It has been a very nice day today. Sunny and warm, but still a cooling breeze. Just up my street. Was out in it most of day, or in shed fiddling with my old broken gramophone

Crap weather here for 1st of August, chucking it down in Brum!
The weather has been really crap here in Greece.
End of July was bad, and August looks like more of the same. Sun, sun and more sun. Bloody nightmare.
I bought a new pair of trousers to wear and so far it's been too hot to wear them, and I've had to wear shorts all the time, to go with my flip flops.
I've had to spend half my time in the sea, just to keep cool. Or, in the bar , drinking cold beer. Bloody nightmare.
I'm trying to remember what a cloud looks like, but finding it really difficult. I wake at night dreaming about temperatures below 40 degrees.
the tears well up when I think of you guys back home in the rain. I'm thinking of you all.
Now, where is my factor 50.

Cold and pissing down here, might as well be winter. Had to have the heat on last night for an hour just to get rid of the chill and the damp. This stupid country. Didn't the brexit campaign promise better weather? They promised everything else ;)
same as yesterday here so far.. nice and sunny, but with an edge to the breeze...so far;)

We need to get used to this crap weather for the foreseeable. This is the third miserable Summer in a row and it won't improve until the Jet Stream moves back up North and stays there.
As soon as we entered August I noticed it becoming cooler, if not a little chilly (especially at night). Had some light showers today.
Not complaining though, it just encourages you to stay indoors and listen to music ..... :)
(Temperatures approaching 40degC? Pah! - you can keep that; I 'shut down' once it exceeds 30degC and loose all interest in anything apart from seeking shade and a cool beer!)

Yeah, I'd echo that. Around 22°C now in Wrexham, but cloudy and overcast. Temperature wise, not much difference to how it was in France, although there is was sunny. No sense of humidity, though, unlike the extremely humid (tortuous) 28°C+ of last month, at home!

It's well known that the EU have been working on a weather machine for years. Now they are using it on us.
Well here in Wrexham, both yesterday and today have been pure blue-sky scorchers! :eek:
Currently 25°C, but with a lovely cool breeze, which is near perfect... Just about to commence Sunday lunch outside in the patio and slurp a few bottles of vino recently brought back from France.

Derbyshire near Buxton. Some great pubs and food out that way. We are cycling the Tissington trail with a pie and chips dinner at the end!

Not massively into impressionists but I do like Van Gogh.:)
Overall, not my taste, but some are very good works. Not that they were not top class, just not me . Quite like small pastel type impressions, especially of the sea or fishing life etc. There was a south coast artist who did some, what looked like childish pics but were in fact very skilled. Corwall or someplace like that.
I liked the American Beneker as well.
I enjoy Turner's work very much, but also rather like Miro, Chagall, Mondrian (Neoplasticism), Louis Wain (as I'm mad on cats) and Lowry, amongst others :)
I mostly enjoy artists who adopt an impressionistic 'minimum strokes to maximum effect' approach (think outside the box), as that's what I believe takes the most talent, and dislike artwork/paintings that appear as too 'laboured' and super-detailed, almost like a photograph or an illustration. Such works, for me, lack 'soul'.
If I want a photograph, I'll use a camera; if I want a painting or drawing of something to hang on my wall, and a unique representation of an image, I'll enlist the services of an artist..... ;)

Rapid increase in temperature predicted for tomorrow. Cold and damp here right now.

450 additional feet of elevation is what I suspect is the difference. I'm at the bottom of a high valley so the clouds are sometimes down at ground level, last night was like that.
reasonably high relative to sea here too. in middle of the country too so can get it from both sides. Stopped raining and slightly warmer, but overcast and will rain again I think.

Haha - no, I can walk for miles before getting tired and lift and carry heavy stuff with no problems. Still play badminton occasionally, too... Most tiring thing is keeping up with Del going round the shops! :eyebrows:

Weather here must think it is the Bank Holiday weekend already. Raining all day and windy, stopped for a bit now but predicted to start again soon for a solid 27 hours.
Can't we build big tanks, let them fill up and pipe it to the Arabs or something? We are always hearing about water being the most precious planetary resource and we have way too much of it and a crap balance of payments. I'm sure we are missing a trick there.

Yesterday was clammy and close, so I've enjoyed the cooler weather today. There was a little drizzle this morning, but the rest of the day has been OK at around a pleasant 70F/21C. Suits me fine.

Listening just now to Michael Hedges 'Strings of Steel' album which is a compilation of his stuff -simply stunning, especially via the Decca. Even my partner Helen is constantly saying "I have never heard it play voices like that".
Had some Basie on a bit earlier, hope enjoy Kansas City 5. The whole album is great jazz with that inimitable Basie swing style.
Listening just now to Michael Hedges 'Strings of Steel' album which is a compilation of his stuff -simply stunning, especially via the Decca. Even my partner Helen is constantly saying "I have never heard it play voices like that".

Well, outdoor footwear is not as comfortable, or as good to your feet, or kind to the carpets. Very useful in winter too. You might want to put feet up, but not a good idea with outdoor footwear.

I don't wear slippers. I prefer flip-flops, slip on beach shoes or even going about barefoot.
It's just about comfort for me. I only wear jog bottoms and a T shirt indoors. Anything else is too cumbersome.

Ha - you don't know me very well then! Wouldn't be seen dead in that.... :nono: I prefer to model my 'special collection' of frocks, especially in remote locations, hehe :eyebrows:
As for slippers in houses, I like my suede 'moccies'. Don't do bare tootsies indoors, as we have tiled floors throughout (with a small centre rug in the lounge), and it's too cold for that... Can't stand wearing outdoor shoes in the house - don't understand how folk can do that. Not comfy!

Bit warm out there today, around 30C/86F most of the day. I've been working up a sweat chopping more ivy off the garden wall to stop it growing back into the roof of my shed. The stuff is a menace!
Another dull wet day here. Not cold but should be a lot warmer for August.... Dot you be overdoing it now Geoffery;)

Like Barry, I've been sweltering in near 30°C heat all day!! A bit too much, but we've got a series of electric fans on, so nice and cool in the lounge, whilst sipping an ice-cold beer! :)

Yup. It was too hot working in the garden, so I packed it in. I'm going to take it easy for the rest of the day and finish off with a nice cold lager tonight! :cool:

Been the same here today since 8am... It's a little cooler now, thank goodness, which means we'll be able to enjoy our outdoor barbecue this evening without getting sunburnt!
Got some nice lamb cutlets from our local butcher, which will be marinated in garlic, rosemary and lemon juice, with a slight touch of honey, and we'll have that with dressed salad leaves from our garden and baby roast potatoes. Some Camembert and Saint Agur cheese, with home-made oatcakes, for afters. Yum, yum!
Fancy opening a nice bottle of red tonight too, to celebrate Celtic's achievements last night in the Champions League playoffs! So I think I'll crack open the 2000 vintage Chateau Musar, which is a stunning, very full-bodied Lebanese wine, and one of our favourites :)

Today it's been 33 deg C - far too hot for me to do anything. It's still humid and sticky here. Tomorrow ought to be a little better............

When I jumped in the car late morning it said 35℃ on the display... phew... as the house is south facing it is always hot
As i drove a little way it went down to 33℃. I love the heat but I don't like this humid heat at all... ;)
It's overcast now and I think I've heard some rumbles of thunder...

Clouded up now and we just had a heavyish shower with the odd rumble of thunder. It hasn't really cooled down, it's just more humid. Yuk!
Today has been much better - so I've been good and done some work outside: repainted some lead flashing and creosote'ed a fence.
Now enjoying a well deserved beer.

We've had a powerful thunderstorm here. You could feel the claps of thunder as the lightning flashed all around. Only lasted about ten minutes and then was gone on its way. :)
One of the nicer days here, and not overly warm..plesent id say

Yes a bay tree which had grown to become an unwieldly bush has been severely cut back, but any other 'bush trimming' is unlikely; I consider any insistance of that to be a gross imposition and infringement. (;))
Our hedge got a much needed serious reducing yesterday and is looking rather well, hard work though:eek:
I will be resting all day today, enjoying a nice light glass of ice cold 2% Kersiac cider in the sunshine.
I'll have to get me strength back before considering any bush trimming :)

Son in law built my new one.. He had some experience so i let him getvon with it.... Its a big job but worth doing well.

I'm having a shed put up in a weeks time. Too lazy and inexperienced to do it myself, so I'll get the experts in. Already had the base laid: 4" thick slab of reinforced concrete.

Still working on mine. I built it thirty years ago out of factory steel shelving set in wood framing. It looks quite good actually and has held up well apart from the roof, which I've nearly finished replacing. I may bung a picture on here once it's done.
