For sale -SJS Arcadia 1.5 preamplifier

SJS Arcadia pre-amp model 1.5.

This has been brought up to full current specification.

It was upgraded by Simon, SJS, in October as follows (information supplied/verifiable by Simon, SJS to me):

- convert to 6111wa
- advance service
- upgrade resistors to tantalum film
- re-wire with solid core pure silver
- bypass cathode capacitors with Hovlands
- bypass ht caps with ClartyCaps and Hovlands


This was almost a full rebuild.

It is now a Model 1.5 (a non official model version as only model 1 and model 2 versions were originally built).

It also has the bypass caps mods fitted by Definitive Audio to a number of amps.

It is about as good as it could get.

Only a Model 2 with the bypass caps added could better it.

This is a superb preamplifier and matches wonderfully with my SJS 300B power amplifier which is also for sale here.

Selling, because a trip to Disney World, Florida, is costing more than i thought, so everything has to go. :(

Sorry I can't help with your sale Phil but would like to mention what a cracking pre the Arcadia is.

I recently sold mine which was basically the same 1.5 specification for the same price. It was replaced by........
Yep, another Arcadia pre ... Version 2, for a shed load more money. The difference is there, but it is subtle.

For anyone who is unaware, the creator of these amps Simon Shilton is alive & kicking up north and is one of the most helpful chaps you could wish to deal with. Good reassurance with regards to future development/maintainance etc.

I have not heard every pre around but can with honestly say that I was totally delighted with my old 1.5. The new owner is delighted with it too, I think he's posted on this thread earlier due to his uncontrollable delight:wave: how ya doin' Pete?
It took a model 2 (which are as rare as rocking horse shit) to part with it. Otherwise it would have been true keeper.

Buy it.
