Croft Vitale - taking the lid off

I need to get into my Croft Vitale. It has three screws along the front at the top, three top rear, three bottom right and three bottom left.

I've removed all these but there doesn't seem to be any movement in the case. I was assuming that the case top and sides (single piece, folded over) would slide off backwards. Not knowing exactly how it comes apart I didn't want to force it.

Any advice?

Er, no. I took one of the brass nuts off to polish it, not realising that it was only held on by a loose screw!

Sometimes they hook under the top of the front panel as well so you have to sort of pull and lift from the back at the same time. No idea if that is the case (ho ho) with your Croft, though.

The sides fold under the base so there's no way of lifting up, I can only assume that it slides back, but there is no movement.

Any more ideas?

I think you will just have to go for the old 'apply force and apply more and more until it moves'. If it is still fastened somewhere that should reveal it. You can always touch up any scratches that result with indelible black marker.

Sounds like the cover on my Epoch. Getting it off is a combination of sliding it backwards and lifting it up from the front. It's sort of jiggle - lift, then jiggle - slide, then repeat process. Force isn't required, just ... well, jiggling really. Good luck. IB.

I emailed Glenn and he suggested that the lid had been put on back to front and would need levering off. He was correct, there are two small cutouts on the back that enable you to lift it off, these were however at the front. Half an hour of struggling with screwdrivers and problem solved!
