For sale are my audio note ane speakers these are a most efficient wide band speaker bandwidth 18hz to 23hz also 94db efficiency the cabinets are 790mm high 360mm wide 270mm deep they have an 8 inch woofer and one inch tweeter. The cabinets are in a loverly deep gloss black finish with hardly any marks on them if I was being picky there is a tiny Nick at the bottom of one of the cabinets.I would describe the sound as very full beautiful mid range bass is fairly deep (I have heard some nice rumbles during a few listening sessions). The soundstage is wide and fairly deep I was running these with a krell amp and getting superb results even better results I dare say could be achieved with valve amplification although the krell with the audio notes was superb who'd have thought that. They come with a pair of dedicated stands I'm looking for 700 pound collection or I could deliver within reason.I bought these off petrat on this forum he can vouch for there performance and condition.17569175701757117572
Lovely speakers Steve. What are you gonna be using now?

Grant looking for a pair of speakers that need watts up them so I can use the full range of the krell and go lower in the bass for some of my loverly blues and rock music plus I listen to a lot of ambient music such as orb and ozric tentacles. This is a very reluctant sale I may regret but I have an itch to scratch

I understand. I'd keep the speakers, coz they are fabulous things; one of the few speakers I would fancy over my fullrangers, but an itch is an itch... good luck with sale Steve, and be surprised if the dont sell fairly quick

Grant thanks for the kind words but I think a sonically different amp to the krell might get even more musical loveliness out of these speakers.Your right grant I've heard detail from these speakers I haven't heard from any other speaker I've owned I had dark side of the moon playing through my transport and Petes beresford dac running off battery and it was the finest rendition of this album that I have been able to conjure from any of my systems I was mesmerised

Sounds like big ATCs could be the thing Steven. A pair of passive SCM-50's would fit the bill I reckon. Mind you Ozrics, Shpongle and the like sound amazing through my Tannoys.
Just a tip. Try taking some photos so you don't have the light behind them. In other words, having the light from the window onto the speakers. They'll come out much better. I can enlarge and sharpen them a bit for you if need be. :)
I can vouch for scm50s. Good luck.
I've heard these at Steve's a few times now and I like them. They have a lovely fluid sound and do go surprisingly deep for the size of the driver. Good luck with the sale mate.
My old ones. Pete bought them off me.A bargain. Hmm
Whereabouts are you Steve ? I've got Yorkshire in my head from when we met at Brian's.

Yes I've heard them many times too..I'm struggling to see why Steve finds he must have a change...anyone buying these is in for a treat ..they are very musical sweet speakers..exceptional build quality and a lovely gloss black minamilist finish...and with the stands too....you have to see them in the flesh...and to here them..to appreciate how good they are...and at that price..well..need I say more..

Bumpity bump
Lovely speakers at an honest price. The stands alone are worth a fair bit.
Buy from Steve with confidence ... but just make certain he turns up at the right car park :D

Cheeky bugger I can honestly say peter was a pleasure to deal with and these speakers were as described in beautiful condition a very reluctant sale only selling to scratch an itch always fancied trying a pair of kef reference 203/2
I was at Steve's last night cos he'd borrowed a pair of Focal BE 1008, £3644's worth with the stands. His ANE's walked all over the Focals in every aspect of the sound spectrum. I'm still trying to figure out why he wants something else as the ANE's are stunning, personally I think its the looks he's not happy with, (the woman).....only joking mate, please don't send the boys round. At the asking price these speakers must be the biggest bargain on the AOS, and he really is a top man. If I was in the market for a pair of speakers, these would be at the top of my list....really, you shoud have heard what they did to to Focal BE 1008 speakers. Good luck with the sale Steve, and I enjoyed our wee bake off last night...good fun

I was looking at some AN speakers recently after hearing a pair of AN-J's when I picked up some gear. Superb sound but have a feeling the AN-E will be waaaaaay too big for my listening space (the AN-J would be on the limit I think). Would these work at all in a near field position (1.5m)? Will they function well at lower listening levels? Do they come with bungs and do they need to be positioned in corners? (I currently have my speakers about 1m into the room).
Can't believe I'm considering these, I've actually had my eye on the ad for a few days now. Don't know what I want to do with my hi-fi. Thought I had it sorted but I'm not happy with it and don't know if it's the amps or speakers or bit of both or just my mind going crazy!

I listen to these regular...they are very good at low volumes with dynamics still very good indeed...don't know about the 1.5mtr nearfield...your listening space must be very limited....
P.S. I still think he's making a boo-boo selling these...

I think they will work very well in the space you mention. Steve's listening room isn't huge and you are quite close to the speakers and they work very well indeed. As I said previously, these are a very good buy and Steve is going to have to spend quite a bit of dosh to get better. Plus Steve is an alright kind of chap.

Hi, Simon. I can endorse the other comments about these speakers (not surprising since I use "Js"). In particular I can confirm that they still work very well indeed at low volume levels. They don't go "dead" like some other speakers. Also, Audio Note speakers are unusual in that they actually like being positioned close to a corner. It is designed into them to use the surface behind and alongside the cabinet to help produce the low bass they are famous for. So that would give you back a chunk of the 1m you are having to use in positioning your current speakers forward from the wall. They are big-ish cabinets, though. But provided you don't find them too big for your space, I can't see why you wouldn't love the sound. Regards. Gary.

Mm starting to think I'm making a mistake selling these one of the main reasons was the foot print of the speaker and two I fancy a speaker that would go very deep in the lower octaves for my ambient and rock and blues music
I,d be keeping them. Super deep is not the b-all.its the quality of the sound...and it dont get much better than these babies...well maybe mine;)
Lol
Having just read back on the beginning of this thread, I can completely understand why you are interested in the JBL. They're an awesome match with Krell and my Nakamichi.
