I've just received a set of these spikes from eBay (shipped from China) and they really are extremely nicely made. The quality of machining and anodising is absolutely first rate (the picture doesn't do them justice).

The silver centre is stainless steel and the black sections are anodised aluminium. The main spiked element is threaded and three aluminium rings screw onto it which means they can be locked in position - none of this is explained in the very minimal sellers description. The only negative is that they seem to have gone up by about £12.00 since I ordered mine (which was only a couple of weeks ago) but are still very cheap for the quality - I couldn't get anything like this made in the UK for double the money and the quality really is first class - the threads are super clean and smooth. I bought these for my developing turntable but they could be used for subwoofers, floor standing speakers etc. Oh, they come supplied with the matching footers too, they are also a combo of stainless steel and anodised aluminium. I see the same seller also does a slightly less tall version (two rings instead of three) for less money.
