Well I've been interested in HiFi since college in the early 90's which gives you a clue as to my vintage. Picked my girlfriend (she says she chose me) based on the fact she had a Toyota estate and could fit the 4ft speakers I made in the back :) Made a turntable from recycled glass and metal for a final degree show but was out drinking when someone from Rega popped in to see it!

I've had a mixture of systems from some frankenstein all in one Sanyo unit through Technics, Arcam, Musical Fidelity, lately Audiolab, Rotel and Naim. I've become increasingly interested in Class D amplification and collaborated with someone a lot more talented than myself to build a shoebox sized amp based on the Hypex Ucd180 modules. I enjoy the product design and the build and never ever get tired of the first time you plug in and hear a pair of speakers, especially ones you've built.

Currently my system comprises:

Naim Nait XS2
Naim CD5i
Rega RP6 and Exact
iPad > Spotify > ChromeAudio dongle

I listen to a very broad spectrum of music but seem to gravitate back to 90's Brit Pop and only film soundtracks. My 9 year old daughter also seems to populate my playlists on Spotify with plastic pop and dance which I listen to on occasion but don't tell anyone!

I also try in my spare time and after my full time job to run a company called Royd Audio.

Oh and thank you for such a warm welcome!!!

Are you involved with Royd? Their speakers have a bit of a following here.

A mystery to me.

Yes I run Royd Audio, but I'm here in a strictly individual capacity to chat, listen to advice and share without hopefully getting into the "old Royd vs new Royd" debate!

More lessons learned than any advice I'd probably say :)
