I recently started distributing Perreaux Audio in the UK and would appreciate if any one could recommend reliable service people around London in case customers report fault with an amp or CD player

Hi Santosh,

Wouldn't the equipment concerned be returned to the manufacturer for repair in such circumstances, or are you just talking about a local repair service in general with which to offer your customers? :)

Marco.

Can't send em back there made in New Zealand ;)

Really? The name sounds French. Still, there must be some type of manufacturer warranty offered by the company for their products.

Do you remember LINX? They were made in New Zealand, later produced here in Essex i think it was.

Yep, sure do. Let's wait and see what Santosh has to say next, though :)

I think I can recommend someone, but I would like to talk to him about it first before I give contact details.

Will post again tomorrow (or rather later today!)

Perreaux is made in New Zealand. It is very reliable brand and I never had any problem with the brand. In the unlikely event if a customer complain about an amp the normal procedure is that to repair it locally and source the parts from Perreaux. If it is beyond repair within the guarantee period the amp can be shipped to New Zealand and perreaux will work on it.

I rather get a service engineer ready in case a problem arises,

Hi Santosh,

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm sure that Barry (and possibly others) will be in touch :)

Hi Santosh,

I can recommend Mark Dolbear of Highend Workshop:

www.highendworkshop.co.uk

He used to work for Madrigal but is now freelance and is based in High Wycombe, Bucks. You can read his CV in the above mentioned website

At the moment, he is currently doing some work for me, so I can personally attest to the quality and care of his work, but there are some independent testimonials cited on his website and also on www.avsforums.com .

I have spoken to him and he is happy for his name to be suggested concerning the possible servicing of Perreaux electronics.

Regards

Hi Neil,

That's good news - so not just me then. I have been out to his place and seen his set up and of course spoken with him.

Not only does he know what he is talking about and I have no doubts about his technical ability; I was also very impressed by his approach - no bullshit, no sucking of teeth, he's straightforward, will give you his honest opinion and if you are satisfied with his assessment will proceed with the work without fuss.

I can recommend Mark without hesitation - he is a true gent. He did some work for me a couple of years ago on two pieces of equipment.
