I've been 'into' hifi ever since university where I started building Sinclair amps and then eventually progressed to a Sugden A48 II by the time I graduated. I then went back to university for another degree and kept upgrading. By the time I graduated for a second time in the early 90s I was the proud owner of some new Audio Innovations Second Audios and Spendor S100 speakers. I have kept both of those all the years whilst other stuff came and went. The Spendors have found a new (fantastic) lease of life with a pair of Icon Audio MB845 Mk II monos driving them whilst the 2nd Audios are now fed by Border Patrol power supplies and are connected to a pair of Living Voice IBX RW speakers. The 2nd Audios were converted to 4 pin 2A3 valves by David Wright and I have just given them a bit of open heart surgery so that they now use 6SN7 driver / splitter valves instead of ECC82s. Both systems have a Chord Hugo Dac going into Music First Silver passive pre amps. It's all sounding rather nice even if I say so myself.

A couple of random photos of bits and bobs.

I haven't heard Spendor S100 speakers for years, but remember thinking they sounded absolutely lovely.

Hi Nick and welcome to AOS. You certainly have some nice kit there and I am not surprised you still have the Spendors!

I have heard the Hugo DAC a fair bit and it is impressive but it has been comprehensively surpassed by DAVE which is the first digital device I would consider as an alternative to vinyl, except it's the price of a small family car! :)
