Interesting read - usually find WBF to be a bit 'dry' for my tastes - lots of Yanks taking it a bit too seriously. Quite funny that he is surprised how good it sounds 'despite' the digital source and solid state amps.

Ron now owns part of the forum. He's a serious Martin Logan fan. And also into very powerful VTLs and analogue. Check out the Basis turntable he has on order in his signature.

He's probably been baited a bit about Apogee bass, and I am not entirely un-guilty there. I'm just glad he's taken the trouble to go and hear a pair. He's gone straight to the top, though, no messing there.:eyebrows:

I heard some of the original big Apogee speakers on several occasions, way back. I was always very impressed with the sound. Last time, they were being driven by huge Tandberg monos, that I've never seen elsewhere. Sounded great though. I don't recall anything lacking in the bass area. It was impressive in depth and tight solidity. If the new re-interpretation of Apogees builds on those they must be really something

Back in the day, we sold a few pairs of Apogee Stage, driven by EAR 549 monos. Sounded pretty good.
