Should I use Altec horn tweeters in a narrow room? Advice please.

I've been wanting to upgrade my lampizator P17 speakers for quite a long time now. About two years ago I bought myself some Altec Lansing 806-8A horned tweeters. My question is will they work in my size listening room which is about 9.5x23 ft I have my speakers set up to fire down the length of the 23 ft room. Are big tweeter horns like this suitable for the size of listening room, or am I a wee bit bonkers ?:scratch:

These are not my speakers, below. The horns will quite comfortably fit into my OB baffle which is about 50cm wide

You might be a wee bit bonkers :) but why not try it. They are your ears so give it a go I'd say.

With the dispersion of the horn you might get more treble reflections off the side walls.

Might need to pad them down a bit, may be more senstive than the other drivers.

I forgot to say I may be running the speakers actively as I'm building another big Wonfor SECA , but as you said Alan it wouldn't hurt to try.

Ok, in that case easy to match it to the other drivers. What are you going to use as your active crossover?

Sans disrespect or intended insult.. that Cinder block room photo'd.
[I assume that those blocks are untreated beyond paint and continue to comprise what seems to be 3 walls]
Is IMO 'suspect' for anything Audio. Narrow width, reflective masonry walls... less than ideal, by any yardstick.
Reflected sounds in that concrete tunnel would hobble most any speaker's sound quality potentials.
Personally I would either relocate (if possible ?) OR invest into some serious room treatment adventures, long before any further spending on gear

Dive in and see how you go, if they don't work give me a shout and I'll take them to plonk on top of my Leaks.

It might be worth trying them with the long axis vertical too in a narrow room.

Very nice job on those Lamp's by the way. I do love an open baffle.

I currently have a Behringer that I picked up from Speedysteve, it has been heavily modded with caps changed to some whoppers and the op amps bypassed.
I'm also able to get my hands on a Nadja with a separate PSU for a good price, advice here on sound quality would be appreciated, the speaker will be a three way.

Your right Danilo, they are breeze blocks, light weight blocks. I could move my Hifi into the lounge of the house which is roughly 4x7m which would be perfect in some senses but hifi room is detached from the house so I can listen as loud as I like well into the night which is a luxury I waited years for, and therefor the dimensions of the room are a compromise I'm happy to live with, but your right I need to acoustically treat the room; but it isn't 4 concrete walls, it is also a home office where two people work, so there are plenty of book shelves with books and files etc, a thick carpet and furniture, but at some point I'll tackle it.
It has been suggested that I try and fire the speakers across the 9ft width of the room therefore I could have the speakers as wide as you like, but that is a bold move and would require a complete re position of the room but it may be worth it...........

Recently got one of the miniDSP 4x10 units, big step up to the 2x4 I was using, which in turn bettered the Behringer DCX2496 before that, though that was stock.

That's interesting mate, am I correct in thinking that I would need to Mini 2x10 DSP if I have three way speakers?
The Nadja will allow 4 outputs per channel and I hear it has superior sound quality but I haven't heard any of them so I'm not in the know.

You could use two 2x4's. Not heard the Nadja, dunno how it compares.
