Export & back up contacts
If you want to back up your Google Contacts or import them into another email account, you can export your contacts as a CSV or vCard file.

Go to the old version of Google Contacts.
Click More and then Export.
Check the contacts you want to export.
Select which format you want your contacts in. To back up your contacts, select Google CSV.
To save your file, click Export.

Try this....

Before you do the following steps, in Windows Live Mail, export your contacts as a CSV file and save it where you can easily locate it.

1. Click on the little WINDOWS Ball in the lower left-hand corner of your screen (this is the same as clicking START).
2. Type WAB in the search box. The first thing that comes up SHOULD BE a file called WAB.EXE. Double-click so it opens up—it may or may not be empty. This file is NOT the same file as the windows live file so don’t worry about overwriting anything.
3. Click IMPORT at the top of the screen.
4. Select CSV, then click IMPORT again. It will ask you to find the file you want to import. Find the backup you made.
5. Once it’s done importing, you should see all your contacts.
6. Plug in your Apple device—iphone/ipad.
7. iTunes will launch automatically. Give it a minute to completely load etc.
8. At the top of the screen you will see: SUMMARY INFO APPS MUSIC MOVIES TV SHOWS etc. etc.
9. Click on INFO
10. You will see ‘SYNC CONTACTS WITH’. Make sure there is a check in the box and that after ‘with’ you see WINDOWS CONTACTS. If you don’t see WINDOWS CONTACTS, click on the drop-down menu and select it.
11. Then click on SYNC at the bottom right-hand corner of your screen and let it run.
12. That’s it!
14. To sync another device repeat steps 6-12

Because you already exported your contacts from Windows Live Mail as a .CSV (Comma Separated Values) file and saved it on your computer. The next step would be to import the .CSV file into Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo or whatever contact management program or service that will synchronize with your iPhone via iTunes and sync it with your iPhone through iTunes.

If you dont have one, then open a free gmail account.

A walkthough that might be easier

This any use? It's free to try.

If it is, be careful as you download. The site may try and foist unwanted extras on you. Just check/uncheck or dismiss what you don't want.

It would appear that not all csv files are formatted the same, or correctly in this case, to be imported into Apple Contacts.

Can you open the file using Apple Numbers, or Textedit, or excel?

No , just 1st column members name , second column email address

take a look at this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3990396?tstart=0

Looks like it might help. Bit technical but there is a screenshot further down.

I have to nip off for a bit.....good luck

Or..... You can edit it and cut and paste into separate columns.

Should be simple enough Al

1. Open Address Book
2. Click on 'File' in the address bar (top left of screen)
3. On the drop down click on 'Import' (and choose the relevant.csv file) or instead click 'New Group' and call it say 'Boat Club' and then click on 'Import' (and choose the .csv file) to import into that group

Personally I would make a New Group (Boat Club etc) and import into that so it is separate from your other contacts

I'm away at mo so can't finalise it for you but the above should do it
