I had an idea for a wee side project some time ago.
The idea is an album art poster made up from iconic album covers. It could be 3 images by 3, or 4 x 4 or any amount really. I made one that was 8 x 8. The finished size, in my mind, would always be 12 inches by 12 inches*, but again, theoretically it could be any size, within reason.
*obviously, the more images you use, the smaller they will be.
I was going to make up ready made designs based on say, decades, genres, etc, but there's no reason why I couldn't make them to order.
Here's a couple of examples I made, the first for a friend of mine, the 2nd for my sister who loves Garth Brooks:

The question is, is there a market for this? I know that a lot of people are very into their album art and their old (and new) vinyl records with the nice big artwork. I've not seen anything like this anywhere else. There is one thing I've seen online called Art Vinyl (http://artvinyl.com/) which is nice idea, but it means putting your actual record sleeve inside, and of course it only displays one cover. If you want more, you have to buy more frames.
The other question is that of copyright. I'm stuck there as I know nothing about it. Someone once told me that if I wasn't making many and it was just for family and friends then it wouldn't be a problem.
Marco, what I wanted to ask you, as I just found out you run an art and picture framing business, is have you seen anything like this before? And is there anything you can add to this idea such as framing costs etc?
Does anyone else have any thoughts on this? Personally, when I made the 8 images by 8, 64 in total, they were fairly small, but I felt it created quite an effect. It draws you into the picture.
