cheers geoff,working with that and looking on google it would appear it might be a UA-7.

The UA-7 is sought after. Supposed to be great with MCs.

I don't believe it's a UA-7, I just bought one and have its big brother the UA-70, it doesn't have a string and weight antiskate but some parts look Stax like so may be another model. The arm lift is not UA-7/UA-70 either.
The arm wand is not removeable on that arm as the UA-7/70 is.

I have a feeling it's an old Sony of some sort. The closest I can find is a PUA-114 but the bias arrangement is different.

The Stax UA-7 available in the UK didn't use a string and weight antiskate, but used a pivoted weighted lever design.

But that said, the arm shown in the OP is not a Stax design.
