Selling my much loved and cherished croft series 7 phono integrated amplifier with original box. In excellent as new condition.

TECHNOLOGY

Fitted with a pair of ECC83 drivers operating in Class A mode and driving two MOSFET output devices per channel, the GC-i is rated at approximately 40-50Wper channel rms, with 8 ohm loads. Part of the company's new Transvalve line, it's a design that is ".basically similar to Croft's long-serving, familiar output-transformerless circuits, but translated to new circuitry," according to Amar Biswas of Eminent Audio. (Glenn Croft himself redefines "reclusive".)

It was explained that this Croft integrated was designed using all-valve references, with MOSFETs substituted into the valve equivalent, so spiritually, at least--the GC-i is a valve amp. It reminded me of the point made by Tim de Paravicini's first Yoshinos; both single-ended, but one solid-state and one valve.
Inside the 75 x 405 x 315mm (hwd) case is total adherence to Croft values. In other words, no PCBs-everything being hard-wired. There are even strips of copper for the earthing - vertical constructs to hold the active devices. And when you pick it up, it seems a bit unbalanced, that's down to the massive 300VA toroidal power supply fitted in the left-hand side. Large capacitors, rock-solid construction, not one unnecessary "bit" - truly tidy wiring.

New Croft Integrateds

After what seems an eternity Glenn is finally ready to announce new products. The following have been in development for around eighteen months and the prototypes have been tested in various levels of hifi sytem. The casework is the same as before but with some new retro silver knobs. For us it's what's on the inside that counts and here is where Glenn always delivers.

Below is the new Croft Phono Integrated priced at £1000.

The Phono Integrated is basically a Series 7 amplifier but with a Micro 25 phono stage. I have been listening to it for the last week am pleased to say that there is almost no difference between it and the two box setup. So all in all great value and a convenient solution for those who prefer an integrated over a multi-box setup.

Yeah thought that would be the case just debating if it would a significant improvement on my Copland csa 8, would still need a SUT though.

Hi Robin imho I reckon the croft would be a significant upgrade from the Copland. I know Alan(firebottle) does a really good head amp for mc carts and is well respected on the aos.

There have been a number of nice Croft items up for sale here and on other forums recently including this one, my own upgraded 25R and Elephantears' Teknifi and none of them seem to have generated any interest at all?

I wasn't sure whether it's only Croft equipment or whether the second-hand market is just generally depressed?

Definitely not Croft as I have had a bumper week. Croft is more popular than it's ever been. It's 'Summer' now and things slow right down.

I have a Graham Slee phono stage on loan at the moment but not sure if I should be spending the money on an upgraded amplifier as well.
Would prefer an integrated with a mc phono stage but not many around at my budget.
I will be buying just not sure what at the moment.

I use MM at the moment, but I did look into the MC options when considering the Croft and the Puresound T10 SUT is supposed to work very well with it. I think brand new they are about £350 but I imagine you could probably find an ex-demo one somewhere for less than that, or indeed another SUT that would work well. I do understand the attraction of fewer boxes though!

My amp is a Copland csa 8 and I am using a project phone se box for Goldring Elite low output mc just now, the Copland doesn't have a phono input using the aux.
