Quicksilver Messenger service, 2nd album, Happy Trails. :)
Well noticed, it is one of the many albums my father gave me recently.
Paul.
Well as you all are aware by now, the CDI has gone and the LP12 is out permanently so thought I better put some new pics up :)

What do you all think ? ... need a Beresford me thinks ....
Love those amps, used to have an exposure integrated a while ago- most 'fun' sound i think i've had! Bargains for what they go for now as well...
Exposure & ES14's.... a combo I lived happily with for many years. :)
Paul my friend, you have to put the sponge bungs in sideways :)
We discussed the LP12's upgrading fate ages ago. I'm almost inclined to suggest leaving one as old as this reasonably alone, as it may have a future resale charm in original condition. Some of the fixing nuts may need a *gentle* tighten though, as the wooden mounting blocks will shrink or compress with age.
For the cost of a major LP12 dealer overhaul, you could buy an SL1200/1210 in good used nick. I think that's where I would go in the future myself.....

Hey Dave,
Not sure about the sponge bungs LOL ... Still find the sound a little too thin for my liking ... maybe if I can get myself a sub at sometime, I'll consider it ...
Not sure I'll bother doing anything with the LP12, like the sound at the moment and although I have quite a lot of Vinyl now, I have a lot more CD's and Digtial recordings now ... and they're more modern LOL.
Reference the speakers, the wife wants me to change them in the next couple of years so I was considering looking at Martin Logan Vantage or PMC OB1's ... although I really love the sound of the ES14's as you well know ;)
P.
Exposure & ES14's.... a combo I lived happily with for many years. :)
Yeah Mike, the combo works so well and the addition of the other Exposure XVIII to biamp the speakers, made a massive difference ... so much better control of the bass !
P.
Nice system, Paul, and thank you for sharing it with us :)

I would echo Dave's advice. Keep your LP12 as is and enjoy its unique 'charm'. Quite simply, 'upgrading it' (significant use of inverted commas there) is like locking the stable door long after the horse has bolted...

LP12 upgrades are far too expensive and just a marketing ploy to strip you of your money. Best keep it as it is and enjoy all your lovely vinyl...;)

Tsk tsk ... no system in the bathroom? :eyebrows:
Now Jerry - although I like the idea of a system in the bathroom - SWMBO would likely electrocute herself (actually...)
Dave - Doubt I will upgrade the LP12 - in fact I might consider changing it for something else in the future, although I really don't use it that often now!!
Right System pics are here:
I have a crapy HP camera so the pictures are not as good as I would have hoped...

Loving the Expo gear, I used to have the XVII pre with the IVDR. I managed to pick up an XI with a IX PSU which I thought put much more meat on the bones. Always wanted to try there mono's.
I also have your Harmon Kardon desktop speakers which I have linked to my TV which I think are great for what they are.

Hey James, agree on both points. Exposure amps are special, once I added the 2nd XVIII it made so much difference :)

Great system Paul. nice rack as well. whats the top box?
The rack is only a very basic - Alphason and the top box (assuming you don't mean the Naim CDI) is one of my favourite albums, 'Nitin Sawhney - Beyond Skin'.
Paul.
No it was the Naim, not up to mark with their stuff,, it just looked very attractive. I have heard of 'Nitin Sawhney but not had the pleasure.

Oh sorry, yes it is a 1992 vintage Naim NA CDI which I keep thinking about selling (as I rarely use it) but unfortunately (or fortunately) I haven't quite brought myself to doing so because it's very good and still kicks ten tonnes of you know what out of the Squeezebox/Beresford combo, although I suppose thinking price only, I guess the CDI should be better!
Nitin Sawhney is great and Beyond Skin is for me easily his best and most diverse album... And as a bass fan it goes subsonically deep :)
Couple of upgrades to the main system :)
I bought a Anker battery for the Beresford Caiman II DAC and got the firmware upgrade from Stan.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v514/pjdowns/image.jpg1_zpsfikbk77z.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/pjdowns/media/image.jpg1_zpsfikbk77z.jpg.html)\
I also sold my Naim CDI and have replaced it with a Naim CDX2 and Russ Andrews power cable from a fellow forum member MikeMusic :)

..and does the CDX2 sound better?
I have a CD5i but don't know where they sit in the Naim scheme of things.
:)
Yes the CDX2 is a significant improvement over the CDI. More so than I expected. It has the same overall Naim sound but just more of it. A very smooth sound with extended and tight bass and controlled vocals.
The CD5i is on the bottom rung of the Naim CD Players but that doesn't make it any slouch.. Although if you were to upgrade to a CDX2 you'd not be disappointed :)
Other benefit of the CDX2 is that you can add an XPS2 or 555 power supply to improve it even further.
Paul.

...ah... I was also wondering about that - your rack looks very similar to mine - just slghtly bigger.
Nice to see you have gone to the trouble of choosing the water bottles to fit in with the overall colour scheme! :D

Hi Shane,
No problem, it was £1200,00.
The NDX i bought ex-demo so that was rather more expensive.
