Calling any locals...Things to do up Arbroath way?

Heading up that direction on business for a couple of days next week.
Staying over at Carnoustie.

Have some time in the evening, wondering whats worth seeing out n about?
Have a pool and spa in the hotel, then dinner, that'll fill a couple of hours but wondering what else...

Arbroath itself is a boring, run down, little place , with not much to offer.
there is a nice historic site to visit, but it will likely be closed for the evening, by the time you are talking about. google ARBROATH ABBEY.
The port is small, but nice to have a walk around.

actually not that much in that area. beaches at Carnoustie and Monifieth if you fancy an evening walk.

Dundee isnt too far away if you wanted to catch a gig.

dont know the Carnoustie pubs, but Broughty Ferry (15 minutes) has a couple of nice ones the SHIP INN and FISHERMANS. both CAMRA, I thinkI had a great haul of LPs and CDs at some of the charity shops in Broughty Ferry some years ago, though last time I visited there wasn't much there.

There are all sorts of things which happen in the Caird Hall in the centre.

Also, the McManus museum/gallery is well worth a visit.

You could also get a train to Edinburgh, and go to the Festival.
