Offers considered, cash waiting. Must be under £250 which narrows options somewhat.

Would require shipping to Italy. (That's in Europe)

Cheers in advance.

The big sonys and the denons of day would do you i would think... Plenty about both hear and on the bay. My sony 940 has a decent mm stage in it and plenty power if needed, but can and does do subtle too.

Arcam Alpha 9 etc...

My NAD I'm selling doesn't have an integrated phono amp; but the externals are cheap to buy if that's of interest to you?

Only thing is...I've been press-ganged by a friend who's convinced she wants an English amp - so in the name of chivalry...

My NAD with an external phono stage then ;)

Something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pro-Ject-Project-Phono-Box-E-MM-Phono-Stage-Black/231900394446?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%2 6asc%3D20140122125356%26meid%3D73bbcb293a7d4c9d8f5 b81fe8e8e98d0%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26 sd%3D182164710770

I did hear that external phono stages weren't the most popular electrical appliances with the ladies.

I also heard that Bilbo Baggins was named after one... or maybe two for that matter.

I'd better go before I get myself into trouble - anyway you're probably all musing about the day's news.

I'll look in later on.

Haha... The Chord box is a little good'un I'd say

My folks have one with their Project TT into their Cyrus/B&W system and it works well... For £40, theres not a lot that can go wrong and as for amps, you'll not get much more British than NAD or Arcam!

You're probably right - though a Rega would be nice seeing as she only has vinyl. The speakers are Celestion Impact somethingorothers so nothing OTT required..

An Arcam 9 might just do it as long as I can find someone willing - I was hoping to avoid dealing on that website.

Thank you for your suggestions.

If anyone stumbles into this thread over the next month or so and wishes to move on a suitable unit, kindly let me know by private mail. I don't suppose it has to be an English amp in reality but I would reiterate that it would need to be boxed and sent to Italy ( over the Channel, turn right ).

Like I said; I'd be happy to send the NAD I'm selling, you'd just need an external phono-amp

The Alpha 9s with their integrated phono states do generally tend to go for more and they can be a sod to find; took me ages to find the one I had and then stupidly sold it on without realising it's worth haha...

I have a superb classic in excellent condition with an excellent phono stage - namely an ION OBELISK 1 - but I would want the full £250 plus p&p.

Thank you for your replies. I'm doing this favour for a friend who is the Mum of a musician AKA His Clancyness - single 'Pale Fear' currently on rotation BBC 6 - which explains why, I suppose, she only has vinyl around the place, being a bit old-school and all. At the risk of appearing to expect champagne at lemonade prices.. ideally, I'd like a bit more grace than the Nad and a few more watts than the Obelisk ( a touch optimistically priced, I fear :eyebrows: ) may provide.
