Denon DCD1510AE SACD and CD Player

1 year old. I have had the machine since new having purchased it from Peter Tyson Audio in May 2015. Just under 1 year left of the manufacturer's warranty. This is not transferable but, if you would like to discuss options relating to this with me, please call me on my mobile: 0752 775 9097

Totally as new condition. Not a single mark/blemish/scratch etc. anywhere. Remote controller has been kept in a plastic bag at all times so no greasy fingerprints, sticky blobs of jam, coffee stains, etc.

Comes with EVERYTHING that came with it, i.e. power cable, manual, interconnects, remote, packaging.

VERY, VERY low use. Seriously. It has been the third CD player in my hifi set up so has seen pathetically little action. You will have to finish off the burn in period.

Plays SACDs and CDs without any issues whatsoever, even my dodgy Wishbone Ash 'Nouveau Calls' CD which tests any machine's disc readability to the limit.

Battleship build (weighs nearly 20 lbs - moe than many amplifiers), build quality to rival Sony ES machines, excellent panel fit, brushed alloy front panel, twin transformers, big expensive capacitors, well thought out output stage, hefty Denon designed SACD/CD transport, lovely brushed alloy casework, etc, etc. This is what you would expect from a mature technology in a package that cost £900. Denon have been making high quality CD players since the 1980s

Also of note are:

a) the superb built in hi-end headphone amplifier which is easily capable of driving my Beyerdynamic headphones (a difficult load for lesser headphone amps). The headphone amp has its own volume adjuster

b) the vast improvement in the sound quality of MP3 and WMA files thanks to the on board advanced AL32 processing and high-precision 32bit/192 kHz D/A converters.

Features:

Plays SACD, CD, CD-R/RW

Plays MP3 and WMA files via a front USB socket (plug in your ipod or USB memory stick - simples!) using Advanced AL32 Processing.

High-precision 32-bit/192 kHz digital to analogue converters

Digital and analog circuitry isolated from transformer cells

Denon's own chunky S.V.H (Suppress Vibration Hybrid) - transport mechanism

Separate transformers for digital and analogue signals

Short, simplified signal paths.

A healthy 113dB dynamic range

Digital signal from the transport can be sent to a separate digital to analogue converter via coaxial or fibre optic cables. I hooked the transport up to my £5500 AYON DAC and was utterly blown away by the sound quality!!!

'Pure Direct' function for improved sound quality.

Dimmable display which can also be switched off

Displays SACD textual information

Standby mode which uses very little power.

The sound quality is absolutely superb. No harsh digital glare. Extremely accurate, masses of detail (Steely Dan 'Goucho' SACD sounds AMAZING), great transparency, tonally spot on, serious bass extension, big soundstage, etc. etc. It shows just how good CDs and SACDs can sound which is to be expected from what is now a highly developed 'mature' technology. Still, don't take my word for it, here is what Hifi magazines make of the DCD1510AE SACD/CD player.

Audi Video Magazine:

"Our new reference and standard; fine sound details and excellent space definition. The end of discussions about cold digital sound due to 32 bit technology."

Hifi Choice Magazine:

"The DCD-1510AE produces a very smooth refined sound - detailed and crisp, yet well-balanced and clean.....high performance and outstanding value."

Stereo Test Magazine:

"The precursor DCD was already in a class of its own, but the new DCD-1510AE shows him the backlights. He plays even more lively, balanced, fresh and powerful."

PLEASE NOTE: I have used some high quality internet sourced pictures with my ad - the transport close up, view inside and ipod plugged in - just so you get a full idea of what the machine is about.

If you are looking to make a final SACD/CD player purchase without getting a second mortgage, this is as good a place to start as any.

VERY VERY reluctantly selling - this is the last one of my CD player collection - as I need the money ASAP. Simple as that. :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Steve's stuff is great. So, you can guarantee the sound quality will be amazing. I'm actually beginning to wonder whether I should move on my Rega Apollo R to make room for this. Hmm

Ouch! This is painful. I said I needed the money in my ad and I really meant it so down in price again to £450 INCLUDING postage. That's less than half price for a not even run in 13.5 month old machine! I'll even make sure the buyer can benefit from the remaining manufacturer's warranty.

If it looks like a bargain it's because it is a bargain!!

I suppose being made by Denon, the CD player sits off the radar of many UK hifi fans. If you value sound/build quality above all else then you should be aware that this CD player can slug it out with my Sony SCD-XA777ES EASILY. Back to back testing between the two shows pro's and cons to each machine but, in the end, the only fair judgement would have to be a win for the Sony, just, on penalties. As the Sony SCD-XA777ES is widely regarded as one of the best CD players ever and measures virtually perfectly in laboratory tests that is some achievement for Denon and their 32 bit/192khz AL32 processing. So, it can be beaten, but not without £2k+ in your back pocket.

So, a £2.5k turntable killer for £450! Don't believe me? Pay me a visit with your TT/phono stage and I will show you what I mean. Naturally, copious tea/biscuits/cake/chocolates provided :):):):):):):)

Cheers

Steve

Thanks Grant!

I'm surprised too. It's a belter and does SACD exceptionally well.
