Hello from Ireland

Hi all,

I have looked around here a fair bit in the past but don't think I have ever posted. I like spending the odd few spare moments I get at work, browsing at other peoples systems on here - its kinda therapy from the daily grind. I have just put my system pics up, so you can see them in the gallery.

I live in Ireland, moving here only 3 and a half years ago from Cheltenham. Now I can finally afford a decent system, I live in a place where it's very hard to buy kit. I have been into hifi for a while, had a nice Rega system for years, but now I am lucky enough to have a dedicated listening room so I thought I might splash out a little.

You need a listening room in Ireland, it keeps you sane, cos the weather is, well wet. It's howling down out there right now, hopefully the roof stays on.

I like listening to Electronica, Jazz, Rock and Dance (Dnb, Trip Hop and the newer kinda Dubstep stuff). Although, play me anything I could like it.

Hi-Fi shops in Ireland....ummmm they used to exist, but they all mostly went down the multi-room, custom install, AV road. Most are suffering now for that short sighted greed fueled choice.

I am afraid the only decent shops are on the UK mainland, anyway Euro Ireland is a rip off with retail prices for audio being at least 10 to 15 % dearer that on the mainland.

Hi jon and welcome , out of interest which part of Ireland do you live , i ask as i have spent many happy times over there (much Guinness) .

Some of the west coast is to die for , hoping to go back at some point but its gotten so expensive.

Too right it has got expensive, although the West isn't as bad as Dublin. You can pay 8 euro in some bars in Dublin for a pint of Guinness (ouch). Hence the reason for an alternative 'stay in' past time, like listening to music.

I live in County Roscommon, which is 50 miles east of Galway. So it's just West of the Shannon. You are right, some of the coast is to die for, Galway, Clare & Mayo for example. Kerry is the main tourist spot, its just the last time we went down there it took over 6 hours. You could drive the length of England in that time (almost)!!!

I do like Galway ' and the Burren is an amazing place , blimey how times have changed ' when i 1st visited Ireland in 1994 ' you could go anywhere and the traffic was pretty low .
