I have a Technics SL-P990 CD player

from a japanese website M5238pf Mitsubishi made in I / V conversion" . Which would be most suited to replace this opamp and which should I change?

I have some LM4562 smds spare, but there could be some better ones suited to the above opamp. TI industries suggested OPA1642

Thank you

Sam

from the service manual

IC805,806,807, 808 are IC Buffer AMP M5238FP

IC 809, 810 are IC Amplifer NJM5532 ( near adjustment screws)

IC 811,812 are IC Filter NJM5532

IC 813, 814 are IC Amplifer M5238FP

?
It would be
IC805 - 808
IC813,814

Hi Sam
SMD op amps are not easy to change, solder wick being essential, and just the
right amount of heat, also solder wet the solder wick as you go.

Its sort of a once only change with most SMD op amps so choosing well,
( that is if you find the present audio deficient in some areas)

LM 6172 seem the tick of approval for I/V conversion, LM4562
is also a very good part as well. I would lean toward the LM6172
for this application http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm6172.pdf

Cheers / Chris

Leave the opamps in... more trouble than it's worth for these types of players.

Hi Chris,
THank you for the help and reply. The IV conversion thing confuses me
The Technics SL-P990 was Technics top model, it uses Mitsubitshi opamps. I had all kinds of trouble with smds in the past. I just thought I wouldve got even more improvement, though presently its just as good as my Marantz CD50

Cheers Sam

Hi Neil,
The P990 does sound very good presently, I just wanted the best out of the player. I already messed up SMDS in the past and that reqired me going to get it fixed Cheers Sam
