New 1 mil long play version (LPR90) of High Output SM900 mastering tape from Mulann/Recording the Masters (previously known as RMGi/Pyral/Emtec/BASF/AGFA). The 1 mil version of SM911 (LPR35) is excellent, and I use it all the time. I've had about 30 off 10.5 inch RMG LPR35 reels in the last 18 months and they have been flawless.

Why anyone would want to buy vintage NOS tape, instead of brand new tape (the RMG tape is reasonably priced at Thomann.de) is beyond me?

I agree the Pyral LPR35, SM911 & SM900 are all excellent tapes and it good news that MULANN have taken over the Pyral factory in France :eyebrows:
I did buy a couple of SM900s a while back and one of them could not record a constant tone which I discovered when trying to Bias the machine with it, the VUs vary by +- 3db all through the tape, very strange , I bought SM911 and LPR35 from the same supplier and they were fine

Looks as if the new LPR90 is going to be very good. I haven't seen any pricing yet.

Love that Crown R2R.

IMO all blank tape intended for professional use should come loaded on metal spools. Ferrograph did it, and they didn't regard themselves as manufacturing studio-grade machines.

You normally get a choice of metal spools, Pancake, or plastic spools, priced accordingly.
I much prefer the metal spools
