I am in no way a fan of Dogs to start with, i much prefer pussy :eyebrows: . but our neighbour has this small dog that barks 24/7. This is not the dogs fault but the owners imho. The question is is why is it that the barking is like water of a duck back to he owner? it never bothers them, are they that used to hearing it? It's driving me insane tbh & we are seriously considering moving out...
Have you considered poison? Either you or the dog, would solve the issue either way ;)

Like i said it aint the dogs fault, Now if the dog was trained it would not carry off like this. There is no cruelty to the dog so i see no issue for RSPCA.
People seem to think these days that there is no need to train their dog. Or their children, for that matter.
Have you complained to them about it? If they are reasonable people they will take action.

What i do notice especially around our neck of the woods is every other person has a dog, what the hell for is beyond me.
I reported a neighbour to environmental health department in the local council and they dealt with it, might be worth checking their website, I just emailed them and a couple of phone calls and problem was solved.
In fact in the first instance I put a leaflet through the door about dog barking that I printed off the council website. That didn't help so I then emailed the council and then they took over.

I love having my pooch about. He's good company and very smart. He's quiet though.
A cat does the same but you don't have to walk it or bath it or go around picking up its crap. If I could have figured out a way my cat would have fed himself too. And he had a little door so he could come and go as he pleased. More like having a mate lodging with me than 'owning a pet'.

But I like walking the dog and he never needs a bath. Goes in the sea occasionally though.
My cat had lived with a very strict old German woman before he came to me. He wasn't allowed on the furniture or to go upstairs and he had to be let in and out. Used to have his claws cut too.
After so many years in Stalag Luft XI coming to my hippy commune where he could do as he pleased and keep his claws was a bit of an adjustment for him.
My cat was fairly non social. Typical cat really.. Mostly she would only interact with me and liked to find somewhere or something i owned or had been to rest on. Ran and hid with wife only when shed done something i gave her a row for. Disliked dogs and other cats unless they did what she wanted etc...

I though my cat didn't like other cats but coming home late one night I saw him sat on the pavement right next to another cat. They were obviously enjoying each other's company - or conversing telepathically - you decide.
Cats have a whole thing of their own going on which we are rarely privy too. Much more interesting than dogs.

Aye, i caught mine playing with others although she was the boss.. When she saw i was watching her she instantly turned into a monster and attacked them .. :lol: Didnt want me to think she had softened up

When I was a kid we had two cats, a tom and a neutered tom. They used to stand up on their hindquarters like jackrabbits and box before breakfast. Much to the amusement of my brothers and I. But as soon as they realised they were a spectacle they would somehow mutually agree to pack it in.

Mine saw me more as a butler or more appropriately a batman, at least at first. He would come in from his early morning patrol and rudely awaken me to prepare him breakfast by slapping me heartily about the face.
Later once we had bonded a bit and he had become affectionate he would still wake me up but just with the gentle pressure of a paw.

Can i just say i do not hate dogs i am just not a doggy type er bloke. A Dogs bad behaviour is 100% down to the owner imho.

I think I know what you may have in mind Andre. Just use a cheap and nasty piezo horn tweeter (they go loud) and feed it some white noise using a filter that cuts anything below 15kHz. Point it at the neighbour and blast it every time the dog barks.

We have 6 dogs. They bark quite well

I have a neighbour who's dog used to bark a lot. I went over a couple of times to see if I could talk to the owner but every time the dog (Border Collie) was alone in the garden, the owners out somewhere as no one answered at the door.
I did eventually get hold of the owner and told her that the barking was getting on my nerves as it meant that the dog was left alone all day. She seemed to be in total denial, stating that the dog was never left alone and that they took it out for walks regularly (both statements untrue).
The barking continued, so I had to call the police (for the dog's sake) and things calmed down.
The looser is the dog as he probably has to sit inside the house now.

Must be very annoying, next door neighbour has his son's dog over infrequently, and that's annoying. Detached house here too.
Found this picture yesterday, not seen it in over 45 years, our pet's puppies.

Oh yes, unfortunately all our pets have died, mostly at a good age. None at present, although a visitor cat sat on the shed roof a few days ago, it accepted a saucer of milk, but not seen it since.
Miss having a pet sometimes but not as often now. Like everything you get used to it. Son and dog were round yesterday and first thing she did was jump up for a cuddle. Shes a little softy and spoilt rotten

What can you do? Not hard to train a dog not to bark. They're designed to be trained. Obviously getting them to jump through hoops of fire or lead the blind is a bit more complex.
I trained my uncle's Doberman to walk to heel with the lead slack. Took about 2 days. I had to as he weighed as much as me and was taller than me when up on his hind legs. I'd take him out and he would just drag me along. And if he saw another dog he's be up on his hind legs baying to get after it. I'd have to put my full weight on the lead to hold him back. And this is on a choke chain mind.
He was useful in the pub, though. I'd just bring him out and the troublemakers would drink up and leave. :)
What can you do? Not hard to train a dog not to bark. They're designed to be trained. ..... :)

yeah... cats are creepy creatures. They shit incognito.
And that's before the racket they can make all and any hours of the night.Have not seen a poisoned lamp-post after a dog has christened it but seen many a poisoned garden after a cat has made it it's chosen toilet

Cats are different to dogs, and thus there is no ruling on it. The are inclined to bury it as well. My cat was trained to do it in her litter box and would ask in to do it then go out again lol
the problem with that is when they walk all over you just after having buried their stuff.
She was cleaner than many humans I can think about ;)

She lived til ove a hundred in our terms. and up to last day could toilet, feed and amble about. Needed help with stairs though.. Overall Ive no complaints. I like doggies too.

I must admit that I too have never heard of a cat wrapping up its crap and bringing it home. but then neither have I heard of a dog doing that either. If your dog or any dog you know does this then I would suggest you contact BGT immediately.

Because as anyone knows they understand English perfectly well. they just don't speak it too good.

That sounds as though he has been barking a lot in the kennels, dogs dont like kennels usually. His voice will recover soon.
Maybe find someone local who does dog home boarding that you can trust to look after him so he has a good holiday while you are away.
