Right sorry for the delay, but I've been really busy First up the G36 1/4 track, It's in good condition and was serviced late last year by Henry Dulat and has been used only twice for transfers since then.

I'm asking £375.00 for this, it's in good condition and sound great, through your hifi or it's built in speaker Cosmetically it's good for it's age. The rexine/Vinyl is peeling off the lid, this needs removing and the lid cleaning or, it needs re sticking.

This PR 99 9the studio version) is in good condition having been serviced by Henry Dulat. It was used at home by a Sky Sports presenter to record commentaries for the TV in the pre digital days and it's in good condition. I also have a second PR99 of which I'm uncertain of the heritage or provenance. this switches on but needs a service. This is a really good machine i have used to check copy masters on, serviced late last year by Henry Dulat, it was converted to Vari Speed by the BBC and has had the heads re lapped since leaving them.

Paul, anything for sale will be spotted here first. not buried in a thread in the reel 2 reel section. AoS gets many hits based purely on folks looking for stuff to buy.

So far there have been 179 views of this thread. Being honest pick up only will damage the sales potential. If postage was an option I would have been interested myself, but as there isn't I am not. I understand why pick up is better, as packing anything to survive postage is time consuming and requires a lot of packing.

Yup, and that's a fact. The private classifieds section of the forum is one of the most active, and as such an ad for anything placed here, will get ten times the amount of views it would buried somewhere within a small sub-forum ;)

However, there's no reason why the ad can't exist BOTH here and in the Show Reel (for maximum exposure), which is something I'd permit on this occasion, as theses R2Rs are such lovely things, and so deserve to go to a good home.

Therefore, Paul, please feel free to copy and paste your ad onto a separate thread in the Show Reel, whilst this one remains here :)

Not really, I guess. Other than, y'know, I might be interested in one of the Revoxes, despite previously thinking about getting a Teac, so was just asking for a quick bit of advice. It's my understanding that Revox (being an offshoot of Studer) are an excellent brand and so therefore I was wondering if a Revox would be a better choice for me, despite the slower tape speeds. Sorry.

The Revoxes are all very good high end consumer/prosumer decks. Although Studer and Revox were part of the same group in their heyday (they are separate now), the large Studer machines were just in a different league. In current day pricing, a Studer would cost the same as a Steinway Grand Piano.

The G36 is a lovely sounding R2R - possibly the nicest sounding valve domestic R2R from that era (it is never going to compete with a Studer C37 or that ilk though). I have a high speed 15 IPS G36 (rare beast) and had 2 standard speed G36s, like Paul's here. They sound really sweet, although the transport is much less sophisticated.

If you want 15 IPS (I'm a big fan of 15 IPS two track tape), then go for the PR99. Nice machines - good transport and sound excellent. As Henry Dulat (toprepairman on Wigwam) has serviced these machines, you should get plenty of use from them. As a service can be upwards of £200, both the G36 and PR99 are excellent buys, depending on whether you want the great sounding valve G36 or the more modern PR99.

I am looking for a mixdown deck for my 4 and 8 track bedroom studio recordings so it would need to be 1/2 track which, alas, precludes this particular G36 from me. I do like the idea of a valve deck tho!

I was previously considering the Teac A3300SX 2T mostly because it is the sister deck for my A3340SX simul-sync 4 track but I shall give the PR99's further consideration then! I am up in London in the next couple weeks so will let you know, Paul. Thanks! And thanks again, TopDoc!
