Hi
BUMP! Price reduced to £500 or it stays at £550 but with delivery to your door by myself.

For sale are my Monitor Audio Studio 20SE speakers. A true reference speaker.

Real Cherry veneer and they are a matched pair. No damage. Fabulous condition and build quality. Grills perfect, cones not pushed in (like so many it seems). No scratches, dings, dints, holes, etc. I've had a look around the net and realised that mine are as good as you will get. If they were a car, I'd probably be saying stuff like 'immaculate' and 'minters'!

Original packaging, floor spikes, manual, upgraded jumper cables.

WORK PERFECTLY.

I am the second owner.

1" gold plated aluminum dome tweeter
6 1/2" aluminum-magnesium-ceramic cone woofer
bass reflex
frequency response 30 Hz - 30 kHz plus or minus 3 dB
sensitivity 89 dB/W/M
nominal impedance 8 Ohms
power handling capacity 200 watts
size 36"H x 8"W x 10 1/2"
weight 41lbs each

Very easy speakers to drive. Can be bi-wired or bi-amped.

The speakers are nice and tuneable too. Apart from the usual bass reflex port there is a chamber at the base of each speaker which can be filled with lead, sand, etc. to fine tune the bass response. I never got round to fiddling but you may want to give it a go.

The posh cabinets, gorgeous Cherry veneer and svelt(ish) proportions make the speakers - I have found - quite tolerable in a 'domestic' situation, if you know what I mean...('other half' friendly) This may be a deal breaker in your household!!!!!!!

Monitor Audio really went for it with these speakers. Cabinets worthy of a craftsman, high quality drivers, use of composites for drivers, high spec. binding posts, crossover, etc. The end result? Well, in my opinion, one of the best speakers ever. Interestingly, What Hifi magazine used the Studio 20SEs as their reference speaker. They were also recommended by Hifi News reviewers Peter Comeau and Martin Colloms in the £2000+ price bracket. So, not bad then.

An online review is available here: http://hometheaterhifi.com/volume_2_4/v2n4v.html
"From the moment we pressed play on the CD drive, we knew these were special. Everyone nodded their approval...In summary, the Monitor Audio Studio 20 SE speakers are truly wonderful. The old saying, "Listen to the music" must have sprung from these speakers. Absolutely out of this world."

An Audiophile magazine recommended speaker. Here is what they made of them:
"They are very much a loudspeaker from the maximum information school of thought, analytical yet with exceptional musical abilities. Adrenalin inducing speakers"

Sometimes, with speakers like these you get used to - and forget - just how good they really are. At the moment, I am using a pair of £400 (in the 1990s) speakers made by Sony (actually, they were made for them by Spendor). Jeez, doing a back to back comparison with my Studio 20SEs was a huge shock! The Studio 20SEs are so much better, it's comical really. A bit like your local pub football team up against the 1970 Brazilian football team (check out the World Cup final, Brazil v Itlay by the way...incredible! Why can't we play like that?).

Here are some piccies which I took yesterday:

Price - SEE ABOVE.
The £500 price excludes postage. Fully insured postage via Royal Mail is about £45 per speaker as each package weighs 20 kg. I like shipping via Royal mail because they are reliable, don't steal your stuff (unlike Parcel to Go then...) and pay out compensation on the rare occasion that they mess up. However, they are not the cheapest! You may prefer to get your own courier to collect them from me or ship uninsured e.g. Royal Mail can ship BOTH speakers with £20 compensation for £56.

This is a perfect example of how a 'for sale' thread should look. :)

Well done Steve, and good luck with the sale.

Thanks guys for the kind words!!

Any sensible person would not sell these speakers. I am only letting them go because I am having to downsize to small speakers.

Cheers

Steve
