Which cartridges use the Linn 3-hole arrangement ?

I have an Esco Troika in use and with a view to getting a spare cartridge for its possible retip date was wondering which other cartridges, Linn or otherwise, would accept the 3-hole fitting arrangement for use in my Ittok LVIII. I assume the Arkiv, Arkiv B but then get lost. Any MMs ?

Only Linn's upper moving coils as far as I'm aware. You can still use any normal two hole cartridge though.

Thanks Mark. Maybe I won´t bother with a new replacement for the Troika while it´s being retipped and I´ll try an AT95 stylus on my old K9 or even a P77 stylus for my even older A&R. Would be nice to go back to MM just to refresh the old memory. I also have a purple Rega Elys with the cantilever pointing to the far west. I sometimes wish my Ittok had a replaceable headshell...

Chris, my last Troika I had done by Goldring and it took less than a week from start to finish - fantastic job too.

You can also add the Denon DL-301 and DL-S1 (both MCs) to the list of 3-holers. Don't some Rega cartridges also offer this? :)

My Elys 24 Cartridge [Rega RP3] is 3 hole aligned.

The Rega is three hole but the third hole is at the front rather than the Linn version of at the back - so the two are not compatible unfortunately.

Can you? Is there a third mounting hole on the Denons - I can't say I've ever seen it?

Oh, do you mean that they have extra slots down the side to increase alignment options?

Yeah, bit of a shame really, it would be convenient for both manufacturers (I would have thought) if they used the same arrangement.

As Marco says, there are a number of cartridges with multiply mounting holes. Unfortunately, none of them are directly compatible with the Linn geometry.

Yes, not the same, but are certainly designed to take more than two screws/bolts, and as such when applied, will offer a more rigid coupling of the cartridge to the arm's headshell :)
