Can't be that much difference due to the fact it's a PA piece of kit, so can I ask a question please?

Having been playing music through it, and it's satellite speakers at a gig, after about an hour I noticed the sat speakers 'farting' despite the fact that they were not being over driven, and then a hum kicked in, which proceeded to get louder!

Obviously a problem occurring in the amp, but what could it be?

I tried a lot of Pro power amps when i was really into Studio Engineering. I always thought most sounded a bit nasty to my lugholes. Thank heavens Quad used to make em..The '240' Power amp was like a breath of fresh air.

I don't use it for hifi, it's part of my on the road rig.

You can get a PA to sound 'hi fi' . If it isn't broken ;) it's the x-over distortion in the power amps that screw the sound I reckon.

I think you'll need to book it into a pro shop for repair, Craig.

That and usually the signal goes through balanced to unbalanced converter (even if it is unbalanced) made with crap op amps and in many amps will also go through things like limiter/anti-clip circuitry also with naff op amps. Horses for courses though, they're built to go bloody loud with decent sound not amazing sound at domestic volumes. I had a sales leaflet from a supplier the other day with a 19" rack mount amp, 60WPC into 4 Ohm, a years warranty.... £36.89 :eek:
I could just about buy the mains transformer for that price....

I'm using a jukebox amp at moment. Its pretty good tbh. Stereo or monoblock; Ive got 4 of them, and pretty heavy they are too. Surprising how nice they can sound with right speakers.
