Ariston RD80 deck.

Nice condition for age with a few small marks on it.

Sounds very like an early Linn LP12, made in Scotland.

Asking £110 collected.

Hi Al

Most fitted to these were either Jelco or Linn or even SME...so i would guess a 9...

These decks are really on a par with early Linn LP12 Sondeks...I have both and theres not much between them.
If memory serves me right, Ivor used a similar idea to the Ariston to create the Sondek (but with tighter tolerances).
The system is basically the same three point suspension.
Fresh oil in the bearing and a fresh belt will definitely give the Linn a run for its money.
Seems cheap, but there seems to be bargains everywhere I look these days! I think everyone must be losing their hearing.
Looks like a nice deck too.

If its any help, mine has an SME type fitting as an arm board, but is fitted with a Hadcock GH 220 using a collar on to the arm board, so it will definitely take a 9" arm.
Not sure what type of fitting is on the deck as is...but it looks like an undrilled blank.
I hope that helps until Monty speaks. :)

Many thanks Dan for all your explanations and appreciation of this deck.

Indeed it does take a 9 inch arm. The arm plate I have on at present is uncut so an SME, Rega or Linn cut can be made.

If any one wishes to view it just let me know.

Here is a picture of my other RD80 I use in my shed system, it is fitted with an Audio Technica arm and an Ortofon cart. I think it would give an early Linn LP12 a close run!
