Hey folks,

I'm hoping that some of you may have some Sl1200 bits and bobs sitting unloved and unwanted in a draw or cupboard somewhere that maybe you might consider moving on.

I'm looking for some upgraded isolation feet and a TT platter mat to replace the slipmat that came with mine.

Will consider anything that has a proven track record of improving the sound of the deck so please let me know what you have.

Thanks in advance :)

cheers,

Ben

Feetwise, if you want something cheap and cheerful you could try 4 of something like these I've linked to with an M6 thread.

I would council against. My own experience regarding the Origin Live version + cork footers, these suck the life out of the deck, and veil the sound. Best feet in my experience (though others mileage may vary) is Isonoes

Not to my ears but hey ho, but why spend £5 when you can spend £100. I'd rather someone try it and make their own mind up.

I have tried both, and frankly the damage to the sound made by the foot you propose is £5 wasted re getting to the Isonoe.

This thread might be better in Technipedia where proposals can be debated. Would you like that Ben ? It might help you focus your quest.

So since someone challenges you it now needs to be moved and debated? You were the one who weighed in with nothing constructive other than an argument of 'because you know better'

Hardly, the for sale section isn't for debates normally so I was suggesting to Ben that it could be moved, if he wanted it to be, then I am happy to oblige.

Hi guys thanks for the comments so far.

I've seen the feet mentioned above but am not keen on them from a looks perspective ( I know I know lol) I was hoping for something a bit chunky / industrial looking but thanks anyway.

Happy for the thread to be moved if it promotes more discussion and possible offers!

Cheers again

Hi Ben

Yes it might, but I was thinking it gives folks the room and I guess the permission to make suggestions and debate them. Its normally AoS policy that sales/wanted threads aren't for such.

Moved.

Liam as I said the sales section isn't the place for expanded debate but as Ben has consented to his looking post to be moved I am happy to expand.

Having tried the feet you suggested on three Technics 1200/1210 decks including an all Origin Live set up, arm, PSU and mat, Jelco 750d, Oyaide MJ12 mat and weight, a 1210, with Funk Firm platter mk1, SME 5, Graham 2.2, Triplanar 7 arms, various Paul Hynes and other PSUs the Origin Live version of those feet with or without cork footers veiled the sound, thickened it and basically ruined it. They are not much better than original feet but the Isonoes are massively better, whether on glass or wood. That opinion was come to in several systems as well.

While I am not saying that there are not other options out there the one you linked to in my experience would not be a move forwards. You heard different, I accept that, but knowing what I feel I wanted to issue a warning that in my opinion it would be a bad move. It was up to Ben to then weigh things up and try or not.

I was trying to avoid polluting Ben's thread with an expansive explanation so I was somewhat clipped in my replies for that I apologise Liam.

Dunno if anyone has tried Rock n rollers under a techy, But I found them good on everything Ive tried so far; especially for the cost. On my last deck I was using Magnetic levitation feet.. A fair bir dearer but they lifted to sound for me, although that was a suspended deck. I have not tried them on my DD TT before I sold them as I like the ones that came with it; Think they are micro seiki ones, alas I dont think made now....they are nice n chunky too

Techniboot's anyone? They seem to be fairly inexpensive but what's the opinion of them?

I think they are now being sold by Mark Grant, Ben. They used to sell on ebay but not now I think. A few of the guys up here are using them.

Tried them , rejected them. The Isonoes sound better without them. In saying that I haven't tried them on the original feet, that might improve them.

Any other suggestions anyone?

Funk Firm Bo!ng - but they are relatively expensive.
Isonoe work well, and the Techniboots will depend on the turntable support.
Another option is SDS Isofeet under the feet.

My support is the Top glass shelf of a (can't remember the name of it) dedicated hifi rack if that helps Kev.

Isonoe feet will work well, as will the Bo!ng and SDS Isofeet. You just need to find the one that suits your personal preference.

There is also squash balls cut in half, RDC feet, msorbothane hemispheres etc. that you can try.

Glass can be a bad surface with some bits of gear Ben... I had stuff on it and some worked well and some didnt... Stuff that didnt, like very good isolation from it. Experimentation is best way to find out. See if you can get some different feet on sale or return or if any of the guys here can lend you some to try..it is surprising how different materials work with glass

I did some recordings not too long ago from a Techy with three different sets of "feet". I also used a Quadraspire rack with frosted glass shelving. In my setup i personally preferred RDC - cones followed by original feet and lastly FF Bo!ng. Cagey's opinion differs! ;)

I think the results are very dependent upon what kind of rack/shelving you have!

So in the interests of a bit of personal experimentation I've bought the following to try.

1. A reso-mat platter matt.
2. 4 inexpensive sorbothane pods (to sit under the standard feet).

I must admit the reso matt thing was not exactly what I was expecting (it's a thin sheet with raised bumps that sits on the existing platter). On top of this I've sat a cork mat as well as a final record "interface".

I guess my main gripe with the deck as standard is that it sounds a bit muddy sounding, now with both the reso mat and sorbothane pods there's a deffinate improvement in that respect, there's a but more clarity and texture to everything, not amazing amounts but still it's there.

I'm still using the stanton cart it came with but in the near future as funds allow this will be replaced with an at150 so that should then provide a real lift in performance.

Edit - I've just noticed I should really have the cork mat below the resort mat. Will give me something to try tomorrow at leadt☺
