My latest purchase LP wise has arrived

A half speed copy of the album Free " Fire and water " also Simple Minds " New Gold Dream "

Very well packed in a double thickness cardboard sleeve so no chance of damage , They have survived the delivery system

Almost seems a shame to open the cellophane and take them out of the sleeves , The art work and printing is very good also :eyebrows:

I will sample Simple minds first while sampling a freshly made ( ECM Barista ) Coffee :)

My My My , what a revelation :eyebrows:
These albums are stunning , the clarity of sound along with the detail and sound reproduction is outstanding
180Gram pressings absolutely flat , My arm is stable , no up or down and the Eroica cart is tracking fine
Bass is very realistic you can hear the slam of the sticks on the skins , treble is very detailed and instrument separation is very good

BUY WITH CONFIDENCE these are great :eek:

I will be buying more as and when alternative become available

This album was part of a musical watershed for me. For the previous ten years I'd been a typical Sounds reader, having done the glam-classic-metal-punk-new wave-post punk journey of bands making an almighty racket. When I first saw Jim Kerr in his white leather jacket (white ?!?) on ToTP with Promised You A Miracle's polished funk I detested it. A few months later, having moved from a provincial town to a city university, I found myself in the digs of a bloke who was to become my oldest friend listening to Mick MacNeil's keyboards on Somebody Up There Likes You and suddenly it started to make sense. In fact I think MacNeil made the band what they were in what was (to me) their greatest creative period either side of this album. It's a shame that he doesn't get much mention in this interview with Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, and Derek Forbes gets no mention at all which is a pity given how I think all the elements of the band made NGD special. However they rightly heap praise on Peter Walsh, a very young producer at the time.

It genuinely deserves to be called a classic album.

Its worth Brian , £25 , the sound on a well fettled TT is well lets just say very enjoyable :)
