Good morning,

I would urge an advice from more experts than me. I have herewith attached the best scans I could take as the cartridge been already mounted on the turntable arm and was not easy to take photos.

Could you be so kind to tell me if - in your opinion - the stylus is the 100% original-genuine Goldring 1042 ?

Hope you can help me out on make clear about its originality or not.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of any fakes, in the way you get (say) fake Shure SM57 mikes. The stylus model number is normally on the left of the stylus in white writing, and you can't tell from your photos whether that is the case

But otherwise, I'd say genuine

Hello Richard,

thanks very much for your reply and advice. I will try to look at it closely with a magnifying glass. I did not know there was a specific number etched/stamped on the stylus. I'm learning a lot of things these days.

I brought this cartridge (complete with its stylus bought NIB from UK time ago) to a technician to have a complete set up + VAT on my arm's turntable.

Honestly speaking: never been 100% sure if this person stole the original stylus replacing it with a cheap/trash one.

So I got plenty of doubts during the past days. I'm just trying to get peace of mind about it.

Cheers
