Nice Marantz kit there, love the vintage tape deck.
Had an SD1015 and SD1030 back in the day, wish I'd kept them!
I bought that tape deck new in 1984, it's had a couple of services and one new head and still sounds great although rarely used these days. I had a Nakamichi BX300 years ago but it didn't sound any better than old faithful Marantz. Next step is a good phono stage, the Marantz amp's built in one isn't bad but having tested a couple of external units I know it could be better.
A lot of very decent Phono stages around for relatively little these days. Certain to make an improvement with your system I would think.
Lovely system, and I do like the way the Linn matches the marantz.
What the the box above the cassette deck?
I tried Jamie's Nakamichi CA5 pre amp and a Firebottle and was impressed by both, also looking at a Graham Slee unit. I have around £400 to spend on one so should find something. I only recently bought the Ortofon so still getting used to that, a major improvement on the Denon DL110 I had before.
Ah, I forgot to put the mystery box away before taking the photos, it's just got my turntable set up equipment in it........no secret gadgets sadly haha

You could probably pick up a second hand ERA Gold V + PSU1 for a bit less than that. They are very nice.

I shall have to try and strong arm it from him next time he's " high " on my best Columbian coffee

the last time i looked in that box there was a 12 inch black mamber dildo in it!
And I can't find it since you were here
you can have it back tomorrow, cant wait to hear the old FRUIT BOX with the 2m black fitted!
I must make sure to get all the ORANGES out of it first
The ones with pears in sound best.
Marco.
Anything on the Apple label sound really good

Well it's done, I've bought a Nakamichi CA-5E pre amp purely for the phono stage. The improvement is amazing over the built in Marantz one. Oh, by the way I didn't mug Jamie for his one....
