This ebay listing had me in stitches... I was going to resurrect the "Wife Acceptance Factor" thread from a while back, but then thought better of it... :lolsign:

a certainly think that the 399 starting bid is a mistake! high starting bids never result in high sale price ime .. especially when there is damage
damgaged item with a low starting bid can encourage more interest as people think they are going to get a deal. lots of people bid and then you get a high sale price down to a bidding war
i sold a completly sand broken ricoh camera on ebay once ... got £74 despite being complelty honest... i even said i had a quote for repair for £250, the camera was only worth about £275 at the time....

Anyone with a modicum of skill would be able to bring them back from the brink. It may be a thorough strip / sand job or more likely new veneer (which would mean you could choose whatever finish you wanted, cost not withstanding).

I think it is a shame when this sort of thing happens, but as with much in life, lots of people care most about how things look unfortunately.
