Hello everyone, I'm a new member from The Netherland.

Just joined but been lurking for some time.
I came on the site through Google searching info on the Beresford TC-7520 I was planning to buy.
Lot's of information on this subject and lots more:)
Since then I purchased a Beresford TC7520 DAC from the Dutch distributor and I'm very happy with it.

I was using my Apple Macbook to stream music over my network to my Airport Express router and from there to my Onkyo TX-SV535 AV receiver.
Didn't sound that good but the Dutch Apple community onemorething.nl featured an article on DAC's.
One of them was the Beresford TC-7510 which the where very impressed with.
So I used Google to search info on Beresford DAC's and not much later came here to discover the potential housing in the little black box.
At this moment I'm not that hightech when it comes to my audio setup.
A plain and old Onkyo TX-SV535 AV receiver, Accoustic Research Status S50 floorstanding speakers linked with standard 4mm Oehlback speaker cable.
Like said before I use my Macbook to stream music to my 7520 DAC that I have linked to my AV receiver with RCA Monter Interlink 250 cable.
Between the Airport Express and the DAC I have an optical cable from the Apple Stereo connection kit but this gets replaced with an Beresford Optical cable once I have a Toslink to 3,5mm Mini Toslink adapter I ordered.

At some point in time I would like to upgrade my AV receiver to a two channel stereo amp like the Cambridge Azur 740A of something like that.
I almost never use the the tuner so no need buying a receiver, I'd rather have a decent stereo amplifier.

Music taste goes from blues rock to older 70's heavy metal and Dutch singer/songwriter stuff.
Bands like Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Tool and artist like Popa Chubby and Robert Fripp.
Depending on my mood it varies what I listen to:)

And a big welcome to AOS from me too, Martijn. In case you hadn't realised, Stanley Beresford is a very active member on here (Stanley B is his user name) so if you have any DAC questions I'm sure he will be happy to help. There's a lot of "StanDAC" owners and fans on here, myself included.

We love seeing photos on here, so if you get the chance, please post some of your setup in the gallery. Other than that, just leaves me to say one more thing - enjoy!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

When I was still lurking on AoS I noticed Stanley and his crowd of followers posting a lot of tips and modifications for the Beresford DAC's.
Great info even for new users like myself!
Since reading all the info on mods I ordered several op-amps like mentioned in the several postings. (THS4032CD, LME49720HA, LM4562NA and OPA2132PA)
I even had contact with Tirna to explore the option on getting my DAC changed for a Wolfson WM8716 model.
I have no idea if I would even hear the difference but still, It's great fun tooling around with stuff like this:)

Welcome to the forum.

I changed out the opamp on my TC-7510 for a LM4562NA (SM version) a while ago (amongst other mods) and have not regretted the change at all - it was quite an improvement.

I was lucky enough to live in the Netherlands for a few years, I have very happy memories. I lived in Valkenburg and Stevensweert close by Maastricht.

I got into The Nits while I was there after hearing colleagues play their cds. "In the Dutch Mountains" being a real favourite. The line "Up to my belly in an early fog" always brings back memories of the Dutch weather. It's the only time I have experienced -20 degrees Celsius! I think they said it was the coldest night for 20 years and I believe them. even so, the trains still ran on time.

I miss the vlaai also.

I liven more to the middle of The Netherlands, so no "Dutch Mountains" like they have in the south of Limburg.
Also no vlaai, or at least not the real ones...
Weather can be just as shitty, a lot closer to the sea so bit more unpredictable:)

I changed out the opamp on my TC-7510 for a LM4562NA (SM version) a while ago (amongst other mods) and have not regretted the change at all - it was quite an improvement.

Today I changed out the fixed/variable op-amp of my 7520 myself.
Went to a Tirna supplied THS4032CD op-amp.
Wow, what a difference!

Fed the Beresford from my Macbook straight through optical with 24-bits 96KHz Vinyl Flac material from the band Tool, albums Undertow and the limited edition live album Saliva.
The new op-amp really made the music sound better,never expected the difference would be so obvious:)
Deeper and more controlled bass and the various instrument could realy be distinguished from one another.
The vocals where clear and crisp.
This new op-amp sounds so much better then the standard one that comes in the TC-7520, even though isn't even burnt in yet:smoking:
