Anyone know if these are any good or just end up looking nice? The listing seems to go into great detail about how its scientifically proved to be better which usually makes me suspicious of their claims frankly.

If these aren't worth it can anyone recommend a decent mat for my Thorens TD160?

Coo - he does go on, doesn't he!

Well, try it and see. Return it if you aren't impressed.

Another mat worth looking at is the Resomat.
Works well on some tts, not so well on others.

You just have to try it.

I have a Ringmat anniversary you can try if you wish, these work well with Thorens and Linn turntables, £15 posted to you.

This is very similar to a mat that Inspire Audio sell. I've tried that on the LP12 that I had at the time, didn't like it and we won't talk about the static issue that I encountered. Then tried it on the Technics and that made the deck sound poor. I then replaced it on the Technics with a Achromat and all was well, had it for nearly three years now.

Thanks for the offer, im just having a look for now really. Always been a bit suspicious of this type of thing and i do like having my thorens as all original but have been browsing and reading up.

The cork rubber mixed slipmats work best overall on Thorens decks imo. Funk ones are also very good

I'm using the Vibro-Stop Platter Mat.

I've had no issues with them so far, although I don't have anything to compare to besides the stock Technics rubber mat.

My deck overall sounds better with them.

Isn't this just another acrylic mat?

It is indeed. I bought this at the time they had an offer. I was looking at the FunkFirm one but it was a bit out of budget for me.

+1 for the Resomat. Good sound presentation, plus ZERO static.

Had one of those too... not too bad, although I preferred the funk personally

+1 - that's exactly what I'm using on my rebuilt TD150. Tried loads of mats and this is the "best" in my setup

In that case I wouldn't be very keen. I've tried two different acrylic mats and even an acrylic platter. In each case they imbued the sound with quite a strong coloration - slight muted and soft in the lower treble and artificially boosted in the upper bass.
