Hi folks, had a bit of a sort out of the warehouse the other day and found a couple of nice bits of hifi tucked away from my days of running usedhifishop.co.uk. There is an early model Linn Sondek LP12 - serial 2359 fitted with a 3009 with fixed headshell and a Shure V15 cartridge. I have run it up having cleaned and put fresh oil in the bearing and popped a new belt on it, all is good. The plinth etc are all in very nice condition - the lid is an absolute disgrace and will need replacing or omitting. It looks like it has come second in a particularly vicious fight involving a scouring pad and a pitchfork. Anyways, new ones are 95 quid, second hand ones come up for a bit less than that now and again. The deck itself is fine, it sounds like it should and looks like it should. Looking for £650, which allows for the lid being hideous.

The other things I found are an Arcam Delta 290 Stereo integrated amp with mm/mc phono module and remote. This one is in very nice condition, the only slight blemish being stacking scratches on the top, front left. They are not through to the metal or anything and would be hidden in a stack but are visible so need mentioning. The lid could be resprayed if it bothered you but personally, I wouldn't consider it bad enough to worry about, the plastic fascia is unmarked. It's a superb amp that will drive a very clean 140 Watts in to a 4 ohm load, the sound is really tight and crisp with loads of energy. It has outputs for 2 pairs of speakers, 2 tape loops and 3 line ins. It comes with a free Alpha 5 FM tuner that I also found lurking in the warehouse. Priced sensibly at £175 including the remote.1669716698166991670016701

I will post to UK only, payment by PayPal or BACS transfer, cash if you want to collect. If you do wish to collect I can demo the items in the cave of man.
PS the links at the bottom of this message are long gone, so don't bother clicking on them :-)

Cheers.
Dave.

Would you consider selling the 3009 as a seperate item?

Hi there, I would consider it. PM me an offer and I will give it serious thought. I can always sell the other bits quite easily.
Regards,
Dave.

As there are no takers I will take a lump off the Linn, now asking £595 - surely that's a bargain. I will give it another week on here then it will have to go on to ebay as I need it out the way.

Does nobody even want to make an offer on this? Bit surprised but as there are no takers I will bung it on the bay of e.

Yeah, come on folks, it's a nice early LP12, which hasn't been messed around with, in good condition... The 3009 is worth £150-200 on its own, so make Dave a decent offer!

Thanks Marco, I put it on ebay and it sold within 15 minutes. The Arcam Delta is still up for grabs, I have not listed that elsewhere yet.
Thanks for giving me a plug, anyways.
Best and all that,
Dave.

No worries, matey. I guess that this isn't the best place to sell an old fruitbox... Had it been a Techy or a Garrard ;)

Anyway, hopefully the amp will go :)

Why would you leave anything on 24x7?

I wondered too. Not something I'd do.

Ok. Let me explain. I store all my music on my server and then use squeezebox around the home. A cool featurw othw squewzwbox is the use of multiple alarms. I lije specific music on BEFORE I fully awake and same WHILST i am falling asleep at night. The sqieezwbox is set on an alarm in the morni g and set to 90mins when i use it at night. At both times the amp needs to be on.

Hope that explains

Nooooo!!!! Bad move, serious killer of capacitors. I always recommend not leaving things like amps switched on permanently, it dries out the caps, then one day you get a power cut and when the juice comes back on things go pop. The Arcam is not a particularly hot runner - it's class A amps that like to generate the most heat but I still wouldn't do it. If you are a believer in amps working better when warm just turn it on for 15 minutes before use.

Our threads crossed over :-) I still wouldn't do it - can you not use a timer that can switch your stuff on when you need it?

Timer is the obvious answer tenner from Maplins job done.

assuming the switch allows it to power up from mains(ie a physical type)

looks like I over-estimated the cost - I use these when I go on holidaymake the house look occupied.

Guys, may I remind you that this is someone's sales ad, so all this chatter isn't really appropriate. If you want to discuss the merits or otherwise of leaving equipment switched on, please start a separate thread in an appropriate area of the main forum. Ta :)
