I need to clear out the unused toys, so am reluctantly selling my lovely and long loved little Cyrus Two amp :(

It has a nice Phono stage that is almost as good as the one in my Rega Brio 3. There is a MM and an MC input.
I just checked it all out and all channels seem to be working fine apart from what sounds like a bad connection on the VIDEO input.
The balance control also doesn't appear to be working, though I have never actually used it in anger...

The amp has never been serviced, but I opened it up recently and gave it a good clean from the decades of dust.

Overall casework in good condition. I can provide close up pics of the couple of small scratches if asked, but I think this still looks lovely. You should be able to get a good idea from the photos.

I was thinking that £150 delivered to UK seemed like a fair price.

[NB: I will also probably be selling the Rega Brio 3 in the next few weeks]

Please feel free to comment if you know this amp. I won't get precious about it.

Robert

Nice amp Robert...

Thanks Grant. I am rather attached to it, but as has been pointed out to me "you don't use it".
Hopefully someone else might enjoy it.

Thanks Bob. It is a beautiful piece of design, before Cyrus went it alone and they all started looking boxy.

My Cyrus 1 last for decades.

It's a good example of a LATE Cyrus 2 and from memory, these things used Morecroft Slit-Foil caps which seem to last well. Great price, but I'd urge the new owner to hunt around for a PSX for it, as I for one appreciated the extra weight and scale it offered :)

I'll be up in Manchester/Sheffield this weekend, so can deliver it or meet nearby, or anywhere vaguely near the road up from London...

It's a lovely wee amp.

Hello mate, I might be interested. Can you tell me what "mark" it is...seems like there were 1-6 released.
Also, I don't suppose you have a spare PSX to go with it.
Lastly, how hot do you reckon it gets....I intend to switch it on and keep it running 24x7. It will be in my bedroom and powering my Squeezbox which I use as alarm in the morning and lullabies in the evening (hence the need for 24x7 on)

thanks

Hi Dipak,
No idea what mark - If you can point me to somewhere that explains the differences I'll see if I can figure it out. No PSX but I understand this is a huge upgrade to an already very good amp. I think you can pick them up on eBay fairly easily....
It's been a while since I used it regularly but I don't remember it getting hot really. I can probably deliver it to Watford for you at no cost though as my partner's dad lives there and we often go up to see him. Send me a PM if you want to know any more.

Thanks Dave, Loz and Robert.
Loz: Good to know I can have this on the whole time.
Dave: Will need to look for a psx, but wondering if the sell separately
Robert: Watford is definitely preferential. thanks. In terms of mark or version, is this the one with a red-backlight or silver backlit on the cyrus logo. Also is the on/off a level switch or a push-button. I am interested but just need to make sure I get the right one. Would you be able to post some pics please.

There is no backlight on the logo, just a red light above the on/off switch.

Here is pic of the power switch, and a close up of info on the back that might help you figure out which it is.

Maybe you could email the guys at Cyrus with the pics and they could tell you?

It's a great sounding amp, for the price. I'll have a Rega Brio 3 going begging in the next week so. It will be bit more expensive, but it's very slightly better (Though with a PSX on the Cyrus all bets may be off on that!)

I think this is a mark 1. As I remember it the mark 2 had a push button on/off and a ref back light to the logo.

No, the Mk1's had plastic cases and were grey with a push button. The rotating controls were slightly different too. This is a Mk2

This a Issue 7 or TOG (toggle switch) unit. Last of the 2 of the line. Excellent amp particularly after £30 of new capacitors and the fitting of an ALPS pot - the old pot gets noisy.

Dipak has bought my Rega Brio 3, which I managed to sell through here without putting up either a photo or a price!
I think we both got a fair deal though which is always the aim.

The Cyrus is still available, though.
