Good morning all,

I'm currently in the process of changing the plugs on a few of my mains cables, from UK to Schuko.
My dealer recommended I try some of the IeGo offerings, the Pure Copper or Gold/Silver plated ones.
I'm barely familiar with the brand though I read quite a few very good reviews on them on the interwebs.
Just wondering if any of you have any experience with them and whether they would be worth the extra cash outlay.
Equally happy to hear about good and cheaper alternatives though I should note that I'm fairly limited for choice: buying from abroad (E-bay and such) is virtually impossible at the moment.
Cheers

Hi John,

Yes, I use the IeGo schuko plugs, and they're great! They're superb quality (constructed really well) and I found them to be a significant sonic upgrade over the 'bog standard' variety :)

Are you shifting from UK standard to European one?

On some of my kit, yes.

Thanks Marco; you're certainly right about their build quality - very impressive. Seem to represent very good material value too, at least in comparison to the lower/mid end Furutech. He'll give me a very good price on the copper ones so I think I'll give it a go.

Thanks Anthony; Oyaide were certainly on my radar but their prices here seem to be a bit too high.

I would recommend the more expensive solid silver ones, particularly on source component PC's

Hi Roger,
Saw those ones as well; but at 250 a pop - a bit too much for me.

I have one, it's decent. I'd go for it.

Are there changes to safety standards in going between the two (can shuko use fuses?) and would the change cause a safety rule to be breached which would in turn nullify any insurance terms?

I prefer the look and feel of shuko (although pulling them out of a tight socket can mean pulling on the cable which is not good) but I notice that you can get some different shaped UK plugs, at least made by a company called Clipsal, if not from others too:
