New rig set up at Steve's new billet...after the thieves pinched his previous kit..Nice Thorens TD160 with a mission774 arm...Denon pre and monoblocs..a little Chevron paradox..a fire bottle head amp..and of course a pair of rather nice AN E's...plenty of coffee and jaffa's on the go the tunes started..Led Zep..Jack Johnson..Ry Cooder to name only a few...I'll not mention the shite I took along..a bit twee for Steve's taste..Krell mad (Vince)..and Clarkey555 (Pete the feet) were also present...It was a difficult night as this is a new rig...and needs some fettling in certain areas..but hey...this has the potential to be a very nice rig..once we get it sorted...Vince brought along a very nice Cambridge CXC transport and an exceptionally nice dac built by a local engineer..that good that Steve twisted Vince's arm up his back and relieved him of them...of course Steve is no mug..and got them for a bargain...I took along my Forte audio model 2 class A pre...which went in and brought the system to life...A cracking pre in itself also has on board a very nice phono stage..but sadly it was set up for mm...and not mc...but we're gonna source the values of the cart and set the internal switching to mc and see how it goes...but I just know it is gonna make his vinyl set up sing...

+1. When arranging these bake-offs, as well as packing the equipment, pack a camera/phone in order to take some pics of the gear demonstrated, to post on the forum. You can take pics of your ugly mugs too, if you want, but it's mostly the gear folk are interesting in seeing! :D

;)

Marco.

Try the tapatalk app on iphone..it pops your pics straight up full size from phone... I find it very handy and its free.

Sounds like a great session. The kit looks the business. Sometimes you can get so wrapped up in the music that the whole concept of taking pictures gets totally forgotten about.
Steve's system certainly looks interesting and itis great to see him getting back on track after his break in.

Still a way to go set the dip switches on the forte audio but not 100% that it's the correct loading for the cart also gonna get a strobe to make sure the platters spinning at 33 and a third:D

Love the look of those monoblocks. Are the speakers working out OK, Steve?

The speakers are definetly synergising with the denon and forte audio gonna try some different isolation between the speakers and the stands I think this will tighten up the bass even more:D

You don't need a strobe; just count the revs over 3 minutes. It should be 100.
If you're OCD you do it over 3000 minutes for some extra resolution :D
