FS: Accuphase E406

As my dreams of getting a Shahinian Obelisk are never going to become a reality (SWMBO loves the look of my Decware speakers), I'm thinking of letting go of my 28kg of VU-tastic glory as I barely pull half a watt through them at deafening levels! This is the E-406 model NOT the inferior E-406V. Great working order and sounding fantastic - best all-round amp I will probably ever own. Superb phono stage (mm/mc). It is in good condition for its age but not mint:
1. There are two small nicks on the outer edge of the face plate and other more minor marks
2. I do not have an original remote (use a Logitech universal) nor original boxing
3. One of the tiny red selector dial bulbs is out (tuner position).

Prices vary widely, US average, for a number of different conditions, is at near £1700, but recent Ebay ones have been advertised at well over £2000 (up to £3200) albeit those are with boxes and remote. So my pricing of £1350 is reasonable. Thanks for looking.

It's only my opinion! All of Accuphase's amps offer stellar performance but the 4 and 5 series ones are the ultimate examples of that company's real world engineering excellence and craftsmanship. The E-406 for sale here is one of the best amplifiers ever made and is being offered for a crazy low price.

I own the "inferior E-406V" (Oi, Rana, you and me outside!! :lol: :lol: :lol:) and it is all the amp anyone could ever need.

Somebody buy this 62lbs monster before my head explodes!

Well, I run some 1975 Accuphase M-60 monos and they are better than any other solid state or class D amps I have had in my system. And believe me I have tried a few, costing way, way more in some cases, and far more recent designs to boot.

Whilst this can't deliver M-60 power, I reckon it'll be a superb buy. Only guessing I have never actually tried one. Defo worth a punt I think.
