The previous owner of my quad 306 amp wrote his postcode on the side of it, is there a way of removing it without damaging it?

Mix one teaspoon of liquid hand dishwashing detergent and one tablespoon of ammonia with two cups of warm water. Sponge the stain with this solution. Leave it on the stain for at least 30 minutes, blotting every five minutes with a clean white cloth and more solution.

Ta,this wont damage the paint?

Try a bit of isopropyl alcohol or a bit of acetone (nail varnish remover) on a small part of the undersurface to check that it won't damage the paint first. I doubt that either would harm the paint. You should find that one of these will remove the pen mark.

no, should not touch it. Most of the casings are done with powder paint coating and has been baked so it is pretty solid. And it this light mixture there is nothing what can dissolve paint

Where I used to work, we had whiteboards that were sometimes written on with indelible marker by mistake. One lad showed me that spraying anti-perspirant on them dissolved the marker pen. I tried the same trick on a small marker pen mark on an amp,case and it worked. I can't guarantee it will work with all pens and all surfaces but it's worth a go and it won't cost you a penny unless you're a roll-on type of guy :)

This works because the propellant has solvent properties. Test on the paintwork first, in a hidden from sight area.

I've always found these to be very good.. these are from Aldi's but similar ones are available elsewhere. I had some black marks on my kitchen floor, where I slid in a new freezer, and these were the only thing that shifted them and with ease

yeah, +1 to those little beauts... The ones from Aldi work well... waiting on them coming in again. I got some on amazon and they were not as good as the Aldi ones

not sure if they may not take a little of the surface shine off the paint though... I would try one on underside as a trial

We too had "white board" numpties, I used to overwrite the permanent marker text with the correct type of pen and then rub off right away whilst still wet using a soft cloth, worked every time.
