Pioneer tuner

I'm just in the process of setting up a system from the seventies and have just purchased a pioneer tx-606 tuner and can't see how to connect it to the amp.it only has an outlet marked l and r .all the others are antenna.anyone know? It doesn't have a volume control so must go through an amp doesn't it? Regards to all cake.

Yes. It plugs into the 'aux' or 'tuner' sockets on the back of the amp using an RCA phono lead.

I take it that the l and r outlet are the ones but does it matter which goes in which as they are not coloured.regards Dave.

Yes it matters, connect the socket on the tuner marked 'l' to the left hand input on your amp - usually coloured black, and the 'r' to the red - right channel input on your amp.

Thanks but it was only that simple! Input to the amp is a 5pin din plug.ihave ordered the lead from din to phono leads.dont you just love the seventies.any thoughts?regards cake.

Yes you'll need a DIN to 2 phono cable, or a convertor lead with female RCA phonos.

Din to phono is on its way.one input on amp for tuner so how do I know which coloured phono lead goes to left and which to the right as they are not colour coded on the tuner but are both black. If you put them in the wrong way round at first could this damage the tuner? Regards cake.

I am looking at a picture of a TX 606 and in this image there isn't a DIN, just left, right RCA as one would expect there to be.

I suppose this was a European (German) model. Is there a suffix anywhere on the model number. Japanese are fond of suffixes to denote variations in the standard model.

The din is on the amp phonos on the tuner.
