Arcam A65 Not Working???

Anyone know a likely reason why my Arcam A65 is not working. I have tried a new lead with no result. The light is not on, no sound, not a speaker cable fault. Do these amps have a fuse inside them or could it have died?

It could be a fuse. I'm not familiar with the amp, but having just looked at a picture of the insides online, there appear to be two fuses towards the front on the right just by the mains transformer. Worth a look. Make sure you use similar size and value fuses if you change any. Don't get the two fuses mixed up. They may be different.

Could be; Fuses, Primary Diodes or even the protection circuit contraption.
Mine had a dead Fuse caused by??
I took it to an Arcam authourised repair Shop, took me 3! separate return trips to get them to fix it permanently. ~200$.
'Claimed' it as failed Diode(s)
NOT a fan of Arcam... Meh Quality, even worse sounds.

Returning to this thread does anyone know the correct fuse size for the A65?

Should be on the fuse. You might need a magnifying glass to read it.

Oldham and Waterbeach are both in the UK aren't they? I mean no disrespect but wouldn't it be a good idea t ask Arcam themselves? They used to be good once upon a time and were helpful... If the unit is totally dead, I suspect it is a mains fuse inside. Many amps often popped these fuses for little reason other than the mains coming in might have had an otherwise harmless spike, or the fuse had aged (I kid you not, but old A60's were always popping fuses and not an internal glass burn-mark to be seen).

As Struth says, if the top cover is coming off, DISCONNECT FROM THE MAINS FIRST!!!!!!! Sometimes, kind manufacturers write on the main board what the fuse value should be.

P.S. if the internal fuse has blown, ONLY replace with the same type and value. A blown rather than stressed fuse will have burn marks inside and this will probably certainly indicate a fault condition causing it to blow I think...

Thanks Dave. I take your point. I did notice tonight though that there are burn marks inside at one end of the fuse so I expect that is the problem. We have had the occasional power cut and it could well be that when power is restored that may have blown the fuse (I should have an extension with a surge protection on it). I will pick one up tomorrow and check.
