+1
Astonishing.
These were my first ever 'proper' speakers. 45 years ago?
Ordered them via my uncle who knew someone in the trade. Went with him to collect - picked up a BIG sealed box. Got home and opened up - there was only 1 speaker in there! Had to go back to collect the other big box - the dealer (who mainly sold washing machines etc and knew nothing about hifi) thought he'd got a freebie delivered by mistake.
Amazing to see these again.
And in such beautiful condition.

Sony made speakers with square drive units.
What were they like ?

I used to work for Laskys (some fellow old gits will have fond memories I'm sure!) and when we got taken over by Comet they recorded a pair of speakers as two items. We had various weird deliveries, but the best was two boxes, each containing four pairs of Wharfedale Diamonds being delivered to us as two speakers.
I really can't comment any further.

Offers invited for these lovely loudspeakers.
I'm in and around Norfolk but will be travelling up to Nottingham this Weekend in case anyone in that area and has an interest - then I could make a personal delivery.
PM me before I set off Saturday morning if that's the case ..

Well Mirek has just been round and given the Sony's a good going over - he even brought this own 'classic' amplifier (Radford STA25) to listen to them with; from what I understand the Radford doesn't work too well with his expensive (£7k) Chapman loudspeakers (sound too plodding) - and he really loves his Radford - so he's looking for that perfect match so he can keep using his Radford.
Anyway, it was a good experience for him and I offered to let him listen to my Consonance Cyber 10 Signature at his place with his Chapman's in the near future - of course he was quite keen - because if he could he would rather try and control his Chapmans than look for another loudspeaker. The Consonance has less wattage, but a more incisive, punchy, faster sound - yet still beguiling which should suit his Chapmans well (I would hazard a guess).
Anyway, to the point - these lovely loudspeakers are still for sale. Anyone else is welcome to audition them in the same manner.
I bet they sounded mint with the Radford.
Try costing up what it would be to make those Sony speakers today and add on the distributor and dealer margins they would retail at over £5K easy.

They sound beautiful with Radford ;)
Chris - thank you very much for presentation and waiting for you in DM.
Sony looking and sound really good. Price is stupidly low. Buyer will be very happy with.

Hope you don't mind me pointing this out, but the power rating is 'peak' so is more like 35 watts RMS. 🙂

No that's fine - the more others know about the correct specs the better. I've been using these loudspeakers in my system for some weeks now and they play really well. The driving force being Croft 25/7's (pre/power). However I've recently hooked up my Consonance Cyber 10 Signature (loaded with TJ Meshplate and Psvane valves) and I believe the Consonance with it's 11 watts per channel is a better match!

I will.
Any suggestions on stands for them?
The stands they are on in the photographs look adequate, usual practice is to get the mid range at ear height.

The stands in the pictures aren't included, and yes, I knew that.
Was just wondering if anyone had any particular recommendations!

I'd appreciate it if you could - I'd never considered wooden stands...
Always up for a bit of staining
