Help Required. Re-centre a Kef B110

Have Forum members any ideas on how to re-centre
the cone on a Kef B110?
Inverting it for a time can work, I understand.

Would trying this in an airing cupboard help,
where the raised temperature could help the suspension
to shift.

I don't really want to ship it to a repairer, with what could be
a substantial bill to pay.

You could try my old hairdryer trick. Locate exactly where the coil is rubbing and pull it gently towards the opposite side of the speaker frame. I usually use an elastic band wrapped around the coil former to apply slight force in the right direction and tape the band to the chassis. Then use the hairdryer to heat the rear spider all round (don't overdo the heat), this relaxes the spider. Then go around the spider again with the dryer on cold and that should 'set' it in a new alignment. This trick usually works, I've used it on at least half a dozen rubbing speaker units.

There's always the possibility that the speaker may have been overdriven causing the lacquer around the coil to bubble and foul the gap. In that situation this trick won't work.
