Hi All

This is what 5,500 watts look like.:eyebrows:


The ultimate 5 channel system with five bridged 1,100 watt into 8 ohm passive cooled power amps.

These are Class G/H stereo amplifiers and sound really good, no noisy fans.
Quality components with a large transformers.
Nice brushed aluminium front panels and large heat sinks, (be aware these are sharpe)

I was fortunately lucky enough to acquire five of these beasts. Practically new as only used a short while for demo proposes, new they cost over £700 each.
I'm running two of these in bridged mode so have three spare. They replaced my modded Quad 405's so had to be good.
They sound massive with total control, scared the shit out of me.:) But also have refinement with correct sound-stage etc...

Id be interested to hear how the "tube" function performs. If it sounds "tubey" we can all get rid of our expensive to run and maintain, hot noisy and unreliable glassic amps and get one of these!

It's probably a 6dB / octave filter above 5KHz :lol:

It is actually damping factor if you read the spec.

I believe low damping factor = less tight bass. It is set to >10 in tube mode, >100 in SS. My Accuphase monos are 45. A Parasound A21 is 10,000 odd. Above 100 makes little difference apparently.

Odd though, the reason the A21 went was chiefly tight arse slightly choked sounding bass.

I bought it to power my Mark & Daniel Sapphires, which thrive on a few hundred Watts. Will try on the Apogees, though.

Plugged in to M&Ds and working. No tube mode switch though that panel is missing, and appears to be on Jerry's.

It sounds pretty good. Very good for £200. M&Ds are certainly liking the power. A touch dry maybe but more likeable than a Behringer A500. Least that is what I'm thinking at the mo...

Had mine playing last night and now.
Pi into one of Duncan's tube dacs and then on to an old pair of speakers I picked up in India 15 years ago.
All I can say is that I totally agree with Duncan's original statement
