Hi I'm Andy

I've been back on the vinyl trail for a couple of years now, my wife bought me a cheap but cheerful retro style record player for xmas a couple of years ago. Immediately, I was up the loft to rescue my old vinyl and have been playing them again since.
Since then a mate sold me a turntable which introduced me to the world of preamps etc, impressed by the quality I was hooked and my vinyl collection started to grow.

After talking to a couple of mates who are heavily into vinyl I decided to take the plunge to buy a decent set up (for realistic money), I couldn't decide between a Sharp Optonica or a more modern TT, after much deliberation I decided to go for a more modern tt. I ended up with an Edwards TT with an RB202 tone arm, a C100MM cartridge with a clear acrylic platter. This TT had great reviews and loads of upgrade options so that was my choice. My speakers are Tannoy's which I bought from Richer sounds and my amp is an Onkyo also from Richer Sounds and recommended by the turntable supplier. I topped this of (more for the wife than me) with a great Cambridge audio CD player that I got of ebay for a steal. To connect my iPod/iPhone I got a PURE DAC and now I'm up and running with a full separates system complete with DAB albeit through the iPod.

I like lots of different genres although mostly Rock, Indie/Brit pop & 80's pop. I have everything from The Rolling Stones, The Who, Queen, ACDC to Nirvana, Oasis, High Flying Birds & everything else in between.

My latest thing is, as I've now got a half decent set up I didn't want to be playing old dirty vinyl on it so I invested in a Disco AntiStat cleaning machine even started making my own mixture after reading many recipes and reviews on the internet.

So all in all I'm a very busy boy and looking forward to getting some useful hints and tips on here.

Thanks Andy

Hi Andy and welcome.

Great place Wolverhampton. I was born and educated there and live just round the corner so know it well!

I am a vinyl man only, don't do digital. So nice to have another vinylista onboard.:)
