Hello from Carlos in the UK

Hello everyone,

My name is Carlos, I was born in West London & I'm currently living about 30 miles north of London.
I'm am retired from computer based special effects for the film industry, and now pass the time as an internet developer.

I've been working hard like a crazy fool for 20 years, now it's time to catch up on a few interests that somehow slipped through the net.
I started talking with one of my 'Audio obsessed' friends 4 months ago; and little by little I have been drawn in to setting up my near field listening desktop system (compact Mac Mini based, listen while you work system).

By chance I stumbled across a few threads here on 'The Art of Sound', and really enjoyed reading the respectful manner in which people are 'helping' each other here.
So, I guess I can use this thread, to show you guys what I've been up to, and how my audio system is slowly growing. :)

Hello jollyfix, my music varies and I currently enjoy listening to genres that I'm not listened to before. I am currently enjoying a string quartet; I hope I'm allowed to post a link: https://amandapalmer.bandcamp.com/album/strung-out-in-heaven-a-bowie-string-quartet-tribute

But I will pretty much listen to anything that 'transports me away' from reality. I don't really have a type but I guess my current listening list is restricted to whatever is available as Flac or DSD files. I've found that most 'popular music' isn't available in these lossless type formats, so I have kind of had to be exposed to 'different' types as I've looked for DSD & Flac albums. I was pleasantly surprised by Nordic Sound 2L, and I guess that I'm not currently 'Enjoying the music', but searching for tracks that 'Test my system'; I'm sure that makes sense to you guys?
