View Full Version : Giant Rat in kitchen (well, playground)
It's been 30 year since UB40 regaled us with their ditty about rodent activity in the culinary area; and their inability to resolve it.

The 'pizza delivery rat' video is also worth a watch.
Son had mice trouble lately.. Tried a electromagnetic disruptor to scare them away(supposex to kick in their natural fears of earthquake or something)... Obviously someone forgot to tell the mice:eyebrows: so onto special poisoned boxes... Safe as poison os sealed in a chamber only mouse can get to... Boy they work too.. Kill the mice in their tracks ..he got 5 in 3 days. None since.

Mice and rats!!! :spew: 'orrible things !! The key is blocking off of all holes you can find which strangely a lot of people dont look to do so the problem comes back again and again :eek:
You should contact UB40 and tell them. Although after thirty years they have probably sorted it now. Or moved house.

When i was a teen...yes back b4 the war;) .. We had cycled to a friends uncles farm about 60 miles away for the day. He was just about to lift the hay bases and had friends up with theircdogs.. Bloody hell there were hundreds of em of all sizes including pregnant female rats all running about..the terriers had a field day...blood everywhere.. That way the way it was done then. Ghastly but oddly you just had to stare.

Just took the floor out of a built in cabinet on the landing today. What do I find? A load of mouse droppings! :rolleyes:
They'd probably been there years. I'm fairly sure we have no mice at the moment. Did have a problem some years ago, so I filled every cavity that could lead to the outside of the house, including the underfloor area.

Or a dog. Mine hates rats and kills every one he spots.
Ratting with a dog is great sport - trust me !!!
Mind you , I would not like to do it in boots in case Ratty runs up your trouser leg:rolleyes:

Well we've had a mammal in the front drive just now, have seen them in France before but usually fleetingly.
Have just followed it up the lane then it disappeared into the undergrowth further up. About 50cm nose to a*se I would say.

Similar to a muskrat but the round tail is the sign that it is a coypu.

those rat type animals give me the shivers, especially when they scatter

I grew up on a farm on the Scottish borders during the 60's/70's, so rats were the arch enemy...:eyebrows:
An annual event on our farm was the mucking out of the winter barns, we'd keep prized, and more vulnerable animals indoors during the worst months. Over that period the layers of straw bedding, and other natural products ;), would build up to a couple of foot in depth, a perfect habitat for an ambitious rat.
What one needs in this instance is a tractor with a forked muck-loader, as many dogs as possible (preferably including a couple of Jack Russells, so long as you stop them from attacking the collies), and a mob of youths with spades, gloves, and wellies!...The dogs would get most on the ground, other rats would run up the breeze-block walls, this is where the spades came into effect...:)

Yeah the jacks, bull terrier and the lakies were the best and faces were covered in blood. The bigger dogs did the outer perimeter and a few cats lying about in case one came their way... There were a few shovel weilders too ... Then it was disposed of... Nasty business but needed..some or the rats were as big as small dogs.
Up untill a few years ago ive always had a cat, so never had any mice.... Well not live ones
don't know what to think of this... is it just a more modern way to kill rats ???

No rats here to shoot at. Could shoot at the pesky kids I suppose but there's probably some stupid law against that.

not urprised at the base levels you use. hey will deffo think there is an earthquake, or tsunami on the cards and move to the next street :D
