Hi All,
Well we are all ready for our Spendor Open day today showcasing the new Spendor D9, Rob from Spendor helped us set them up yesterday evening then we had the tough job of sitting back and having a listen, first impression are very impressive indeed, they offer excellent but tight and powerful bass that is really quick and controlled, excellent detail retrieval thanks to the excellent tweeter that we know from the D7 but it is the mid range that is the star for me, talk about vocals sounding natural, it is quite uncanny, there really is an ease to the whole experience, I guess they are extremely musical but they don’t seem to be trying too hard if that makes sense, they just play the music and they had me wanting last night to skip to the next track to try as much music as possible, which is always a good sign.
I’ve just been listening to our Rega RP10 hooked up to our top Naim system and it really does sound stunning using a female Vocal reference album that I have, the voices sound so natural, I know that is a word I am using a lot here but ‘effortless’ and ‘natural’ keep coming into my head :-)
I guess to sum up they are a speaker that you could listen to for hours, they have no vices really and just let the music wash over you, and the vocals really are something else, so if you are around today and want to brave the snow that is coming down at the moment please feel free to come in for a listen and a cuppa.
Btw, really love the experimental military grey that Spendor have used for these cabinets, really hope that becomes an option once in production.
