Because the seller wants your money! And if you're willing to part with it easily then you may as well give it to me or that seller..

Having said that, it looks like some kind of Studer DIN adapter on the bottom attached to a NAB adapter of unknown origin with an aluminium trumpet on top.

If you look at the bottom of these, it looks like something similar to Studer part # 1 013 335 so will likely be some similar adapter plate http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ufsAAOSwg3FUp12N/s-l1600.jpg and the listing this picture is from was asking $175 for one.

If you see the bolt underneath, these won't sit on your regular r2r without those plates being removed.

But if you want nice trumpets then you can buy some for £35 to go over your regular NAB adapters: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLUE-COLOR-ALUMINIUM-NAB-HUB-ADAPTERs-KELCHE-for-REVOX-TASCAM-TEAC-AKAI-PIONEER-/281940653302

Or buy some complete, one piece NAB adapter with built in trumpets for £110: http://www.nab-shop.com/virtuemart?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage-ask.tpl&product_id=53&category_id=1

OK, looks like it is these on the bottom (the original Studer adapters for regular NAB hub, called Trident adapters here): http://www.ebay.ca/itm/TRIDENT-ADAPTERS-for-STUDER-A80-A812-A816-A820-/182034811980

plus some 10.5" NAB adapters on top, ones with a white centre blob thing and then a couple of aluminium trumpets on top (used of hand-turning of the reels when editing).

They are not just a NAB adapter they also have a AEG/DIN adapter that is a snap in attachment into professional machines such as the A80, A820 etc which do not have a standard reel table
They are designed to allow a quick change from AEG plates with pancake reels to standard NAB hubs with Trident adapters, whilst still maintaining an excellent mechanical coupling of the reel to the reel motor.
The alloy machined trumpets do look the dogs though but I personally am not that impressed by the Revox NAB adapters I actually think the TEAC ones are far more stable an sturdy fit to a standard reel

On the domestic front, the deluxe NAB adaptors that Revox sold (with similar aluminium 'trumpets') were always rather more costly than the stock articles, despite being based on them. Not surprised if the Studer version costs a lot on the used market. Just depends if a cheaper alternative that does the same job is available I suppose.
